Every clone I have ever had or friends have had is in the bin, thats dreambox and vu duo. You get what you pay for and it depends on how long you want it to work. I would rather by a second hand genuine box than a clone.
Has anyone got a vu+ solo2 from nextbay.biz? Are they worth getting?
Cheers,

Hi Guys.
Ive bought in a few Genuines and clones over the years.
Normally i would invest in the Genuine first, and then later once a clone is released i would bring in a few for curiosity.
I have a mix of both Genuine Dreambox DM8000 Receiver and the Clone DM8000. Both have pretty much done the same amount of hours ,and have been just as reliable as each other.
I also have an original Genuine 7020 and Clone 7020, running along side each other - with no problems. Aswell as a couple of DM800s Boxes
Earlier on i ran a few Dm500s boxes, and never had a failure.
Recently i've bought in Two Vu Solo2 boxes from Aliexpress, and to date have been pretty happy with them.
I have VTI running on the Clones - Which is looking quite stable.
The only requirement for Clones , is you need to be carefull that you load on Patched Firmware revisions that are stable with your version bootloader installed on the clone. (Otherwise you run the risk of Bricking the Box).
Also removal of the Automatic or Manual Firmware upgrade option from the image is a good thing to do aswell.
Other than that, ive been pretty happy with the clones.
Thanks Rentakill, i was interested in a Solo2, but then read about all the non-supported images and just couldnt be bothered.
I too have a few Clone 7020's and VuDuo, all work, but they always seem a little noisy than the genuine article.
Does your Solo2 do everything that is claimed on the Vu+ website?
Does the AirPlay and Remote Screen function work flawlessly?
Care to post the AliExpress selling incase anyone is interested, i know there are heaps, but its nice to know that your selling actually sent the box!
Very big price difference between sellers?
And a lot of Picture Misrepresentation:

If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
Hi Oceanboy
No problem, This is the crowd or organisation I went through.
See:
They were Pretty quick and efficient, and were good to communicate with.
My Order arrived in NZ within 7 days - Which is pretty good, considering other gear ordered inside Nz takes considerably longer to arrive.
Quality of Build was also good.
All in all, A good experience
Cheers:
7 Days!!! How on earth did you manage that, well done, everything i get from China takes a month.
So no issues you've noticed with the box?
Getting hot or fan noise etc?

Hi Oceanboy.
Yep - 7 Days easily. Which is awesome really - Especially when your looking forward to them arriving.
I had a similar experience to you with a laptop Motherboard I ordered from China - It took around a month, which would frustrate the hell out of anyone.
So far ive had the Two Vu Solo2 Clones running for last 3 weeks. One at a mates house, and the other is on my Test bench with the rest of my boxes.
Both run pretty much at normal air/ambient temperature. The outer cover has no signs of hot spots at all.
Fan runs nicely too - Although I usually ramp fan speed to around 75% - Which is still fairly quiet, but gives good air flow around its onboard 2.5" Harddisk.

I'd be very careful with any images you install with these clone boxes.
Late December 2013 VU+ introduced a time bomb into the drivers that fired during Easter wiping out any clone that had an installed image post 23rd December.
Unfortunately there is no easy way to unbrick them other than removing their flash eeproms and installing new ones.
Quick google on this topic will reveal more.
just got one as well.. l&w solo2 clone.. working alright.. blackhole 2.1.0... works ok.. but i had to do a factory reset at first cause it didn't scan the dvb-s2 transponders.. super fast boot guys.. im talking 10 times faster than a dm8000 box..

I have a Cocobox M3 () which works great. Latest Blackhole is 2.0.7 - newer images don't work. Openpli 4 works but I haven't tried any other images. Almost all enigma2 addons/plugins work just fine.
I am reading this thread and still can`t believe that people are buying DVB-S2 boxes .So can somebody tell me what are you still watching on them??Is it some foreign speaking channels or.....???? Can PM if it`s a secret lol
Android TV boxes: Nvidia Shield U Box 4K, Rickomagic 808b, Rickomagic 802
Raspberry Pi 2, Ouya
AZbox Premium , dm8000 , VU+ Duo, Ultra Plus 900 and other none Linux boxes
Terrestrial with Sundtek USB tuner. Streaming all sorts with TSMedia.
Should have said that mine is a Vu+ Duo. I've tried a couple of other USB tuners, but the Sundtek is the only one that I can get everything on.

Like many others I have a selection of genuine and clone boxes, I have absolutely no connection whatever with Vu+ or anything commercial but would never buy a clone again.
Original Vu+ are pretty good value for money, at least in Europe, and the hassle involved in choosing an image that wont bugger it up makes it just not worth it for the small amount of money saved.
I have recently been trying to add a streaming plugin to a clone Dm 800se, this will only run on OE 2.0 images of which there are hardly any for clone dreamboxes most of them are buggy as well.
It still amazes me that satellite boxes are illegal to own in China yet they are quite happy to copy someone's development and churn out copies to sell overseas.
