new sat setup? help

Hi, just bought dynasat 2.3m sat dish with actuator.
i'm trying to connect to chinasat 6b or anything but i dont get any signal quality but i get 99% signal intensity.

can someone help please

What transponder frequency are you tuning and what are all the settings in your decoder? (make & model also)

Good signal but poor signal quality are usually related to a wrong setting or incorrect LNB position.

The transponder frequency is what you set your decoder to tune to, unless you are performing a blind scan, which 'searches' all transponders on the satellite your dish is pointing at.

The transponder frequency shown in your pic #3 is 3740MHz

Looking at the Chinasat 6B info on shows this transponder has encrypted signals only (eg: pay TV) which you will not be able to decode without a valid smartcard/subscription.

Your pic also shows you to be searching for unencrypted (free) channels only, so you wouldn't see the pay channels in the list when searched anyway.

Select ALL if you wish to scan all channels on a particular transponder.

Perhaps try some other transponders which have unencrypted channels.

I still suspect your LNB skew and/or focal distance is incorrectly adjusted, resulting in the poor signal quality reading.

the pic 2 was the test channel on the box

so if the sat is encrypted it wont show anything like signal et..?

Sorry... meant to say pic #3. I've now edited my post to correct it.

Encrypted channels just can't be displayed (eg: no pics or sound) but you should still be able to see tuning signal information.

i'm having a lot of trouble adding a new sat to the list I can only get a signal for the test channel

Perhaps other members can advise on the procedure.

Are you following instructions in the manual?

I assume the 'test channel' is only showing you what a correctly tuned signal should look like, rather than an actual received signal.

I would suggest you ensure your dish/LNB is correctly installed and aligned first, otherwise you won't receive anything, regardless of your decoder settings.

How did you determine the correct alignment of your dish and what method and equipment did you use to optimise the signal?

All Chinasat 6B transponders are C-band.

Once again, refer to the page for the correct frequencies.

Dishpointer only gives approximate settings.

You still need to make adjustments using some form of instrumentation, such as a sat meter or correctly configured receiver and be able to see a screen whilst you make the adjustments.

Did you ensure your mounting pole is perfectly plumb (level in all directions) your dish was pointed perfectly true north at the top of the arc and the declination angle correctly set for your latitude?

Lyngsat won't tell you the LNB LO frequency, because that depends on the LNB you are using.
If it's a standard C-band LNB, the LO frequency is 5150MHz

In pic #1, where it shows LNB Type standard, under that where it shows Freq1, you need to change that value to 5150MHz
