Default Using Foxtel cable card in Satellite STB ?

I have just purchased a caravan and am wondering if it's possible for me to purchase a satellite set top box, and use one of the smart cards out of my Foxtel cable set top boxes in it or do I need a specific satellite smart card ?

    Thanks in advance

Sorry mate.... the days of being able to use a Foxtel card in anything other than a provider set top box are long gone.

You'd need a Foxtel satellite decoder and the card supplied with it.

You can get a VAST satellite decoder, which will give you FTA channels for your caravan.

I think if it was me, just wanting to watch my Foxtel package while away on holidays, I would, if I had a small caravan, buy a 3G iPad and use Foxtel Go and watch it on the iPad or Samsung Tablet.
If I had a larger van with a TV with an HDMI input then I would buy a cheap laptop with HDMI and again utilise Foxtel Go
Even a laptop without HDMI can be used you just need to buy a VGA to HDMI adaptor, one with up scaling would be nice.
In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

Using 3G would of course be dependent if you could get signal at the location and the data usage cost, depending on your mobile plan.

Default Using Foxtel cable card in Satellite STB ?

    Thanks for the replies.

I already have an iPad with foxtel go, and I also have a Slingbox running on one of my foxtel boxes, but both of those rely on me having 3G available which isn't always going to be the case.

I have a foxtel satellite STB as well, just not a satellite smart card.

Then it really seems the only options available are those LESS than legal ideas, such as coercing a Satellite subscriber to part with and extra box for reasonable recompense.
I'm sure there are many Sat subscribers out there with multiple boxes that they share around family and friends to minimize the payment to Foxtel.
You just need to find one that trusts you.
Family and friends is always a good start point

Very true Weirdo, you just watch VAST because during the advertising breaks, they are still running the 'Scenic Loop' of various locations so why even leave home when you can watch that?

However in defence of taking a STB with you, over the years I have found going away for a Holiday and expecting to out and about is like trying to catch a Fish for your next meal, it doesnt always quite happen that way so you need something to do rather than staring at the Fog shrouded Rain soaked (flooded) scenery.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
