Not sure if anything has changed in the last 18 months or so since I had Foxtel, but when I did I came to the conclusion that the USB port was disabled or hobbled by the firmware running on the box.
I never did manage to do anything with it.
Hi, I thought I'd get a quicker answer from you guys than if I rang Foxtel.
I have a USB port on the back of my Foxtel Device. I've tried sticking in a flash drive but nothing happens, I just can't figure out what it's there for.
Is it to input or output movies? Anyone help please?

Comfortably numb...
And NO, Google is NOT my friend...
Yeah I downloaded the manual this week as I found a cable box. From what I read it is disabled.
Thanks, at least I can stop fiddling about with it.

Does it have power at least? You could plug in one of those USB coffee warmers.
it was supposed to be conencted to a printer for their "Active" applications so you could print out application forms for products they advertise through i-Ad.
That said, power is active, so if you have a mobile phone with USB recharging why not connect theUSB cable for the handset to the set top unit and have it as a spare charger.
I read with interest the the new iQ2 boxes will have either a cable modem or ADSL modem on board for broadband return path option.
Guess 9v battery is now out of the question for those who use the 9v to view PPV/NVOD movies ect because those new iQ2 boxes will have broadband return path to enable the smart card to allow access to the PPV and NVOD movies ect ...
Why your reference to the 9 volt battery?
Regards,
