Talking Help me choose a GPS to buy

    Hi

Im buying a GPS for my family soon and I need a little help, as i know virtually nothing about them.

Im after a brand that I can get free maps for - +$100 a year for upgrades is just too much for our budget.

Surely there is a brand or a web source that allows free maps to be downloaded and used on a GPS.

If anyone can help me that would be great

i would go for a gregorys or a ubd, neither is to hard on the budget, and you can replace them for around $30 every year.

    Funny that.

My father just bought the latest Melways large edition (for the old and going blind) and paid over $90 for it!

May have been cheaper to go GPS....

    Hi

I personally would get a Garmin - I have a 760 Nuvi, which is pretty good. There are automatic upgrades of the software via the Internet. However, I don't think that you can legally get free map upgrades, but you should normally only need one every 3-4 years. But, like everything else, if you are persistent with your Internet searching, you may get lucky with your maps!

    Regards
