Seymour Butts (17-10-14)
Philip Island Moto GP
What a day for it!
Actually, what a weekend for it.
Been watching bikes heading around the GOR on the way to the track for the last few days.
Just came home from a 30min blast myself.
So glad the weather is going to be good, the track surface is sorted, and a few Aussies to watch in near perfect conditions!
Looks like numbers are way way down! Even the amount of bikes coming around the GOR was dismal compared to years gone by.
Watchable on SPEED, BT Sports 2, and on Race Day, Channel 10.

Yep it was a great day all around, the GP turned into a race of attrition.
Although it certainly highlights what we don't usually get to see, I really miss watching Moto3 on FTA TV (thanks channel ten (not)), especially with the season young Jack has had so far! Sure I can watch it online, but it just isn't the same...
Bring on next season, it's gonna be a long Christmas break!
All 3 races were excellent, on the edge of my race bike simulator (read; lounge chair with beer in hand) all day.
It's been so good to have the races add free again after FTA farked it with adds.
BTW; did you see the add for the V8's next year on Foxtel (we all knew that), however it's going to be uninterrupted, add free. that's what I pay for.

Channel 10 wasn't ad free, thats for sure!
Rossi's 6th premier class win at Philip[ Island..... Geez, has any other rider won more races at the Island?
Does anyone know if Cassy Stoner made an appearance at the Island this weekend gone?
yeah Stoner was there, hanging around the Honda camp.
He's got a new job; tyre testing for Honda.
Stoner won the Island 6 times in a row!

Thanks Tiny... Geez, i had no idea Stoner won there so many times, i didn't even think he was in MotoGP that long?
I seem to remember the Mick Doohan years (was there for all his rides)... then jump to recent times... somehow i hardly remember Stoner winning there so many times.
Note to self: get off the grog
Malaysian MotoGP
Few young Victorians in the support races this weekend.
Trying out for RedBull Rookies.
Should be good.

If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
Jack Miller once again on pole
And plenty of Aussie support there for him
Had a few beers with these couple of ol mates this arvo, they have being attending the Sepang MotoGP for 10 years running.
There was more Aussies there than I see in Melbourne!
Don't under estimate these tweaked scooters.... they weigh nothing and they fly!

That second photo above, is that some kind of frame that allows you to practice wheelies?
That would be great for learning a bike's balance point (although its slightly different with and without the front wheel turning).
Andrew
Yes mate... it was at the entrance.
Not as easy as it looks either.
Strap was only if you went passed balance point.
Ran on a dyno type set up which spun up really quickly. So if you didn't seat bump it up off the bottom of the rev range, you couldn't get it up.

Last round in Valencia this weekend, the Moto3 championship is down to the wire, only 11 points separate Alex Marquez and Jack Miller (who are now the only two contenders), from the motogp.com website:
Saturday (Nov 8th):Below are the scenarios with regard to the World Championship title:
- If Miller wins the race, Marquez needs to finish on the podium to become World Champion
- If Miller finishes second, Marquez needs to finish sixth or better to become World Champion
- If Miller finishes third, Marquez needs to finish 10th or better to become World Champion
- If Miller finishes fourth, Marquez needs to finish 13th or better to become World Champion
- If Miller finishes fifth, Marquez needs to finish 15th or better to become World Champion
- If Miller does not finish in the top five, Marquez will become World Champion.

Dammit, Jack Miller missed out on the championship by one point!
What a race though, I almost fell off my chair a couple of times...
Andrew
EDIT: Sorry, it was one place or two points the difference.

yeah mate, great race for Miller he could do no more for the championship. Well deserved race win.
What about the MotoGP race, talk about tricky conditions?
Lorenzo pitted for wets.= Fail
Marquez, well 13 wins in one season, wow!
Rossi put on a great show of Mastery to finish second in the race & championship.
For those that said Rossi should retire.
Cheers, Tiny

Superprestigio 2014
Well, not MotoGP but each year now, a group of the worlds best MotoGP riders meet up in Barcelona to race against all the top Supermoto, Dirtbike and Flat Track riders in a flat track Oval race.
Last year it ended with a big battle between Marc Marquez and the USA Flat Track champion Brad Baker.
This year.....
the road race list was
93 Marc MÁRQUEZ (ESP) – MOTOGP – Double FIM Road Racing MotoGP world champion (2013, 2014)
53 Tito RABAT (ESP) – MOTO2 – FIM Road Racing Moto2 world champion (2014)
12 Àlex MÁRQUEZ (ESP) – MOTO3 – FIM Road Racing Moto3 world champion (2014)
24 Toni ELÍAS (ESP) – SUPERBIKE – FIM Road Racing Moto2 world champion (2010)
60 Julián SIMÓN (ESP) – MOTO2 – FIM Road Racing 125cc world champion (2009)
21 Troy BAYLISS (AUS) – SUPERBIKE – Triple FIM World Superbike world champion (2001, 2006, 2008)
38 Bradley SMITH (GBR) – MOTOGP
36 Mika KALLIO (FIN) – MOTO2
5 Johann ZARCO (FRA) – MOTO2
94 Jonas FOLGER (GER) – MOTO2
23 Marcel SCHROTTER (GER) – MOTO2
19 Xavier SIMEON (BEL) – MOTO2
7 Lorenzo BALDASSARRI (ITA) – MOTO2
88 Ricard CARDÚS (ESP) – MOTO2
9 Kenny NOYES (USA) – MOTO2
33 Enea BASTIANINI (ITA) – MOTO3
2 Remi GARDNER (AUS) – MOTO3
11 Albert ARENAS (ESP) – MOTO3
Christian IDDON (GBR) – SUPERBIKE
87 Luca MARCONI (ITA) – SUPERSPORT
And Guy Martin is racing with the Dirt bikers as he races that series in the UK and Scott Redding was supposed to be there ... but no Rossi
And this is what it looked like.
Marc Marquez won the event... Can this kid have a better year if he tried?!
