Playing "The Croods" in 1080p 5.1 DTS... In XBMC is shows me it is 1080p 5.1 DTS, but the box outputs 2.0 Channel audio?
There is no Down mixing enabled. Connection is via HDMI.... Maybe i should try the Optical?

    No Video on Playback

Seems just like the "No Audio" problem some were having, others are suffering "No Video" when playing a stream.
    Please read here:

This was brought to my attention last night from a family member in Thailand whom bought a unit.
And as a very random occurrence, only last night while playing some live TV streams in Navi-X, i got Audio and No Video.
Some were corrected by just starting the stream again, some remained the same.

So as Chief says, seems there are a few different variants of these boxes and their software.

    Firmware Discussion: !
Few Aussies in there hey JustMe

Another good read, as posted by hoe:

    Strange Screen Flashing
One thing my M8 Box has started to do, is a strange screen flash after power down and reboot.
Not sure if it is HDMI thing or i have done something to poor little box.
It corrects itself with a press of the power button on the remote.

What are people using for a keyboard with these units ? I can believe people upload files to sites that require a captcha phrase to be entered.

I have using mine for about a week, no problems and no complaints.

My flashing issue above was a dodgy HDMI cable.

From what I can see this is either a bargain or a rip-off. Given it is EBay and you can pay with Paypal if it is a rip-off you are a good chance of getting your money back after some inconvenience.

ok typing from my rooted tronsmart S89 H. Just flashed with the new finess 17 version which has taken me 2 full days to work how to do.
Basically there is little to no difference to this box and the M8. Remember they are BETA boxes and the software is raw. in my edition Google store did not work along with afew other apps. All this reminds me of the Dream boxes
Admin JB have Logitech keyboard/mouse combo for $40 whicis what i am typing on now. you wont get a better deal

    $40 for the lot.... Wow

EDIT: Well, we are in the same boat now, just bought one too
Thanks for the link.... i hope

Lets see if this one runs at 2Ghz and not 1.6Ghz.
I see he has No Feedback on selling these boxes, just on USB leads and other cheap items.
Maybe we should buy his 1080P LCD Projector for $45 Free Delivery while we are wasting our coin

At the price, i am starting to think someone had 43 failed units out of 1000.

Sell them for $40, user finds fault, PayPal says send back to seller, freight out weighs initial purchase... you have a door stop.
Oh well, can only wait and see.

I can see this thread becoming quite amusing.........
Btw, I would stick with unmolested firmware. The finless rom is a bit of a pain.

If the Jesurun MX box is anything to go by, we are screwed

So no idea whats in the Jesurun M8 box, and old commodore 16 perhaps

    M8 Remote Control Issues
For those saying the remote is unresponsive or no good.
Try opening the box and looking for the target.
I have just been reading where a guy opened his for another reason, then found the sloppy workmanship with the IR target, as it was not fitted correctly and facing half backwards.
After the correction, his remote works brilliantly.

I neglected to say in my post that I too took the bait, breaking my own rule about things which seem too good to be true. But at least I kept my other rule about not gambling more than I can afford to lose. Now we just wait.
