Default Need Help with Openbox S9.

    Hi All

    First post with question.
I have just joined this forum and totally newbie with this sat jargon's.
I got OpenBox S9 HDPVR and i got it from one of the guy from Sydney. It had Australia Vision Asia (Indian Live Channels) as well as Australian Foxtel. Small dish got 2 lnb. Was working ok till dec 2013 and suddenly goes off. Guy who sold us has stopped providing support and asking to buy new box and setup.

How can i fix this? do i need a new firmware ? Can anyone help to fix this issue.

    very frustrated.

    Thanks

    Firstly,

Where are you... not specifically, but suburb will do.

How is this box configured.... do you have a smartcard in the decoder?

Are you saying there is a fault with the decoder, or perhaps a fault with the dish/LNB/cabling/connections?

OR... are you saying you were paying some dodgy cardsharing supplier who has stopped providing the 'service'?

    Thanks mtv
I am in Melbourne. No there is no smartcard in the box. it was through IP add.
I can still see some FTA indian channels through the box as i have c band disc and its also connected with the box but not Fox and VA.
I think you are right about the cardsharing supplier.
    can you please help

    Thanks

Given you can still get the FTA channels indicates the decoder is working OK.

The problem is your 'provider' is either unable, or unwilling to continue your 'service' which as I'm sure you're aware, is illegal anyway.

All of these types of 'sharing' services fall over eventually and it's a matter for their 'subscribers' to determine the risk of being part of such services.

When these 'services' do cease, subscribers often realise it would have been cheaper to have had a legitimate Foxtel subscription to begin with.

There's no magic fix anyone on this forum can offer, as the issue rests solely between you and your 'provider'.

If you update the firmware, it won't likely add capability of what you can receive.

No, you won't need to move the dish to continue receiving what you can receive now.

There's not a lot of FTA channels on Optus C1/D3 where your Ku dish would be currently pointing.

Have a look at to see what other FTA channels are available from different satellites. Eg: IS19

You will need to ensure those sats have an Australian beam/footprint.

There is a greater choice of FTA channels on C-Band from various satellites compared to those available on Ku-Band in Australia
