I have seen this guy 5 times, 4 in Melbourne and 1 in London, always pissed my self laughing
For those who do not know, Barry was always a little different, studying law at Melb Uni
His first feat whilst at Uni was when he hopped on a train at Frankston in peak hour, (beginning of the Metro) in pajamas and dressing gown, progressively going thru all the states of dress including washing, showering and shaving. By the time he hopped off the train in Flinders Street he was fully dressed in a Tuxedo
He did this with the help of his uni mates who positioned on every station, would have the required accomplement
Did a job for one of his mates a number of years ago, who said he was called up at the same time as Barry (early 50's), every morning at parade, Barry would take one step forward and urinate on parade ground and end up in the clink for the rest of the day

The latest BS serving from Elon ....and I'm still getting over the starlink network going to have 42,000 satellites, and in 2 years they've only delivered 1,800 into orbit...and the satellites themselves only have a life expectancy of 5 years -- do the math =)

But this, not about starlink ...however, proffers the same grandiose type of claims.... sigh ...

What he describes here reminds me when I worked for Elders Metals mid 80's Elders were financially backing a system that when you tried to accelerate or drive quickly it would push the accelerator back up, in those days it was supposed to assist the economy and durability of company cars
It was dangerous, annoying and hated more so if the car was gut less to begin with, be pre warned!
It required a lot of effort to push against the accelerator to over come, when you hopped out of the car you felt like you had done a session in the gym

The word is 'telematics' --> I've a mate in the US who works in this field ~ he keeps me apprised =)

It'll take a while to roll out, as it's ideally a holistic system, and widespread 5G has to proceed it, so we're at least 5-10years away here in AU before it can be deployed (probably longer =), but the technology will already be there in newer cars.

I did bother to read through relevant ADR docs to find out whether him specifically mentioning Australia, had any credibility, and it does ; we'll be seeing this here sure as eggs is eggs.

The annual arrival of the first Channel-billed Cuckoos was announced yesterday by the early fly-ins. In the 'Scenic Rim' area of SE Qld where, it's a bit of a twitcher's paradise ~ the cuckoos migrate down here every year for exactly the same reason ; lots of bird's nests to raid and lay their eggs in...this is also a paradise for parasitic brooders. A couple of years back we got to watch a breeding pair of PeeWee birds (magpie-larks) forage themselves to exhaustion trying to keep food up to the cuckoo chick they'd been duped into raising. Around here though I think it's the Currawongs that end up doing most of the cuckoo raising.

If it's not already fairly impressive these birds fly all the way here (and back) every year from New Guinea, then it's the fact they arrive here late Sept/early Oct, lay their eggs for other birds to brood on and raise their chicks...and those chicks have to be ready to fly out back to their northern home with the parent birds by late Mar...neat trick, but they make a racket of a noise day & night, and as they like to roost in the big Morten Bay figtree 100m behind our house, it really does get annoying after a while..at 2am..
