    Default Foxtel IQHD install

Just a quick question. I have an old austar service from a few years ago.

I understand foxtel iqhd requires 2x coax runs from dish. Considering there is already a dish with one run, would this mean the installation should be a heap quicker this time?

Just wondering as tight schedule on day of install

Time depends on a lot of variables, such as ease of access to where the cabling has to run.

In very tight wall cavities, it can often be more difficult to pull two cables through, compared to one.

Sometimes you can pull a second run through with the original cable.... impossible to answer accurately without knowing the difficulty level of the original installation.

In either case, the LNB has to be changed over to a dual output and the wall outlet changes to a dual outlet, so you need to allow plenty of time.... for the unexpected things that can happen with any cabling installation.

I think I'm going to do the same, looking at getting IQ so I can record so I will need to purchase a dual LNB and run the extra coax cable. Does it matter which Dual LNB I buy and where is there a place/website where people recommend purchasing one from ?

Sharp or Strong are the two I recommend (Sharp being what Foxtel install).

    It must be a 10700MHz (10.7GHz) LO

That Acer would do the job, however I would be looking for the Sharp Brand as that's what Foxtel use & they seem to last forever.
I've got one I rescued from the tip that is still running like new.

Here is a couple of choices.

Thanks! Ah yes the tip, I might see when the next hard rubbish collections are around my area and try find a dish with hopefully a dual LNB! Otherwise spending 50 - 60 is well worth it. Also, with the cabling, should I purchase it off eBay ?

You do get what you pay for and while cheapie stuff will suffice, it depends on its location, exposure to the Sun and all weathers for you to decide cost v's longevity.
If your doing an install you intend to use for the next 50 years then go for quality but if its just a temporary in a 'rental' that might get damaged on removal or your may want to relocate it later and its not a very long run, hopefully you should get 5 or so years out of a 'cheapie'.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

Yep.... it will work fine, but I disagree with their claim about it being the best.

The Sharp is my first choice, as I've compared several, however, if you have a good signal, they will all work, but many are not built to withstand the extremes of the typical Australian climate, but the Sharp and Strong hold up well.
