    Default Aurora card not working

    Hi and help!!!

I purchased an Aurora card last week and had it activated last Tuesday (22/7/08). It worked great - had all the channels. Then I got a phone call from Optus to verify my details and they advised me that I would get all the ABC and SBS channels but if I wanted Imparja etc. I would need to apply. After the card was activated it stopped working. Cant get anything except home shopping. I sent Optus an email and was advised that the card may be in up side down or the dish may not be positioned correctly .....blah blah blah. The thing was working ok but then just stopped. Does any one have any idea what could be wrong?

Any help much appreciated - if there is someone in Adelaide that I could try the card in their box to make sure it is not my box it would be good.

    thanks

    Dave

Yeah, I have a suggestion.....a lot of last week had many AURORA services running unencrypted whilst OPTUS was dicking around with the system.

Your card might never had been activated during this period.

I suggest leaving the receiver running with the card in the slot correctly, one of the setup fields should tell you the card details when the card is inserted correctly.

If you have told OPTUS that you are in Adelaide you will not get authorisation for Imparja or Seven Central as these commercial services are for use outside of normal terrestrial television areas - Adelaide is not a 'black spot' area and you will be authorised to receive ABC and SBS only.

"Home Shopping" is part of FOXTEL and nothing to do with the AURORA platform, you should delete all channels from the box and NIT scan 12407 V 30000 only. If your system is working you should see the AURORA line-up channel on 12407 V, leave your receiver running and if your card is indeed authorised you should see ABC and SBS services within a few hours.

If you really need to watch "Home Shopping" you can scan that FOXTEL transponder later, but get your SBS and ABC running first.

what I had to do Dave when I activated the aurora card was to swtch the channel to the optus tuning channel on the aurora suite and let the card update/activate that way.

and as bulbous said, aurora did a lot of frigging around last week with their service and the card may not have received the updates OTA.
