I use registry mechanic you can't get any simpler than that
I'm looking for some tools that will "clean up" an XP registry. I have no inclination or need to jump in and do things manually, so I'm after some software solutions to help me get rid of some (inevitable) crud I've accumulated over the past year or so.
I've tried RegCure, and it seemed to do a good job, but repeated scans failed to remove the last 2 "Empty Registry Item"s
I'm not sure I trust any of the online offers I've come across - unless some one has any recommendations?
Oh, I'm a 'swinging' mac-guy-so be gentle please-hence my reluctance to get 'hands-on'
cheers

When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
ccleaner is awesome!
Registry Mechanic v 8.0.0.900
Be careful with that program it can upset some software by running it, not saying dont use it, just do a back up first just in case.
I always set the create system restore point in RM... but haven't had a need to use it with years of use of RM.
PcOnPoint or Reg Mechanic, i dont like Crap Cleaner (CCleaner)
i use ...Regscrubxp
And NEVER exit out of the program until it has finished.
What happens if I press alt + F4?
registry mechanic is a great program
Yeah, a lot of people claim CCleaner... personally i have used it many times and don't think much at all of it. It removes the stuff you need and leaves the crap half the time.
I use PC Pitstop, My Step Dad had it as a part of a virus checker package he bought and never knew he had it, wasn't until I had to reinstall his system I saw it in the email showing his serial number, so I installed it on my computer and it done registry, filesystem, internet and anything else that can make your computer pick up speed.
i use ....Regscrubxp
Regcure is good
I've tried a number of different registry tools but I have found Registry Mechanic to be the best.
I second DND with Regcure being my number one reg cleaner. Will always recommend it as the best I've used! Never had problems with it and it doesn't chew up resources.
