    Default Server memory upgrade

Due to some recent server lag and problems with multiple posts appearing, our server memory is maxing out a bit much and we require more. Although we cant really afford it, we will be adding another 2 gb of ram, hopefully today as we are on a VPS and it shouldnt require physical installation.

Edit : We have had a reasonable number of people signing up for Premium Membership recently, I would like to thank those members for their support of the site and hope that it doest end after 12 months.

The best way that people can support the site is to become an active posting member, a contributor rather than the many who take and dont put in. Forums are a mutual obligation society, they require you to also put in what you take out otherwise they cease to exist. Especially when they have to compete against the popularity of social media.

Far too few shoulder the load on Austech. Yes, I know I am a broken record on this one but I will continue to remind people. So there is my reminder for this year

Got a bill already so it looks like it should be done soon.

Edit : Not done yet, but will advise when it has been done. Thats should stop the timeouts and multiple posts that have been an issue for some members as we have been using around 80% of memory in non peak times.

    Thanks for your support lsemmons

I havent had any jam ups or double posts so far, so fingers crossed. There are some other measures we can take if it is still a problem, but we will see how it goes.We were running with 3gig ram, we now have 5. Memory use is much better at the moment, we would have been near maxing it 4-11PM.

I havent noticed any instances of multiple posting/s so it looks to have fixed the problem.

I've seen a few, including one of my own (which I removed).

I think there's one or two still in threads.

If I see them, I'll point them out to you.

Just to let you know I have had at intermittent times, doubles posts, a box asking if I want to 'stay or leave the page' or after posting, it just sits there with no acknowledgement that a post/reply has been made.
I thought it was a bit of glitch here maybe due to my internet connection but more likely the server was busy.

Now I know thats a possibilty, I can live with it and if it happens again, just to wait awhile and try again.

Double posts still occurring & I had the dreaded 'stay or leave the page' 5 minutes ago. short post so clicked leave & no double post.

The following thread is a strange one as the OP has edited post #18 & ended up with post #19, making a double post.
    Cheers, Tiny

Just had another double post, with the 'stay or leave page prompt'.

I selected 'leave' and it double-posted.

Looks like the issue is more than just memory?

I always though the Double Post thing was due to 3G latency??
Seems others on copper adsl also suffer.
Would happen to me 4 times a day, plus far more page load issues.
