If i was spending money on a new Sat Box, that is what i'd buy.
That or the Solo 4K, which also has 4 tuners (2 x Sat and 2 x DVB-T, with the Dual DVB-T card installed)
A good choice of box if you wish to add IPTV into the mix also.

I notice Vu+ is Beta Testing Google Chromium OS.

Any of the new Vu+ products would be a great choice with support everywhere.
They also run 24/7 for years on end without fault, unlike the clones and other cheap chinese crap.

Thanks oceanboy yes i have decided to buy the Duo2 they are not cheap but after a lot of reading i think it's the best way to go only worried about which image to load
Info overload with all the reading i have done
Chrome hmmm all i am after is SAT and FTA sick of changing inputs from tv to AVI , I bought a hisense tv and to change inputs is a pain
thinking of running PLI as it's what i am running on the dreambox 500s

Blackhole or Pli are 2 very good places to start.

The purchase price is long forgotten when you realise how good they are, especially after 4 years + without an issue.

I have the Vu+ Ultimo and always run Blackhole.
They might seem $$$, but when they are your daily driver, for the whole family to use, including guests.
The cost is very soon forgotten, as they just work with no fuss, they don't run hot, don't need extra fans to cool them, run quite.

There is a very good reason you hardly ever see second hand ones for sale

Oceanboy - have been hunting around for a sat/terrestrial box that has more than 2 tuners for ages. Can you please provide details about the Solo's availability (and also Vu+ if there is a triple or quad tuner model) , whether locally or overseas. My requirements are at least one cam slot to operate a VAST cam and card - also watch C Band FTA currently on a fixed system and terrestrial FTA which is much more watchable since 9HD & WINHD have arrived in my region. Don't really need a twin terrestrial tuner and 4K is not essential but both would be nice as future proofing.

    Thanks.

Purchase from OS mate, many here have done so without a problem.

I've purchased from the above before, no problems

You don't need Sat.xml files anymore satmax, those days are long gone.
Just turn it on and set it up, everything you need is in the image.

They have been doing that for years now.
These new bread should be really good at it, perhaps support more file formats.
They also do Screen Mirroring from your phone etc too

    It just works, nothing special.
7 Day epg on a Single Channel or Multi Channel
Press of a button, too easy.

Comparing these boxes to a DM500, is like comparing a BMW M3 to a Hyundai Excel

Yes, they are painfully expensive, especially when you take the lid off and see how little is in there

thanks Oceanboy - will definitely look into it. There seem to be an amazing array of sat receivers at this site in contrast to the Australian market.
