Maybe from the shop
Hi guys,
I am struggling to find a Sundtek TNT DVB-T USB tuner OR something that works with my Vu+ Duo box.
I purchased a AVerMedia AVerTV Volar HD Nano Digital TV Tuner USB Capture DVB-T Remote A867R for use with latest Black Hole image but its not working.
I can get terrestrial channels however they are pixelated and not good enough to watch. I have checked cables and all setting with no improvement.
The cable directly into the TV is perfect.
I need some help please.
Thanks in advance.

Maybe from the shop
In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.
Research here for blackhole images and compatible usb terrestial tuners.
Thanks guys, ill check those links out.
It's also possible the issue is signal related.
Just because the tuner in your TV is working OK, doesn't mean the signal is sufficient for a USB tuner.
As a general rule, USB tuners require signal level higher than the minimum, typically around 70dBuV minimum.
BER also needs to have zero errors.
Are you able to measure your signals?
Wow i did not know that mtv.
I will check what signal strength is but thought it was substantial like 70 or 80 %.
Keep on looking for the Sundtek. I tried a few others on my Vu Duo, & struggled to get any local channels at all. After some recommendations here, I bought a Sundtek & haven't had an issue since.
I think we implemented all kind of tricks to have the devices work wherever it is possible.
We try to work out every single customer feedback in order to avoid having to support another user with the same issue.
Some new updates will be available within the rest of this year, eg. XBMC support on Android systems, without rooting them (convert your cellphone to a settopbox :-)
And that will also work with the old devices which are already end of lifetime, there are new ones available now (directly manufactured in Germany).
The price is not so cheap but the active support is also infinite since the software is just designed to carry on support for all devices we have and ever had.
Thanks for the input guys. I guess I will have to bit the bullet and purchase a Sundtek for 80 pounds, almost the cost of my box! OUCH....
I wonder if there are any secondhand ones going tooking for a new home out there? MMmmmmm.
Just for your information, if you order from Australia directly the Sundtek MediaTV Pro is 60 GBP (excl. sales tax, supporting AnalogTV, S-Video, Composite, Line-In Audio, FM Radio, DVB-C, DVB-T, DVB-T2), Accessories: good big remote control, S-Video/Composite/Line-In Audio cable, Antenna Cable, 30cm USB extension cable.
Sundtek MediaTV Digital Home (DVB-C, DVB-T, DVB-T2) is ~53 GBP (excl. sales tax) includes big remote control, Antenna Cable, USB extension cable.
we have a sales tax of 19% in Germany which will be deducted when shipping outside of the European Union.
Warranty 2 years (worldwide).
Old and new tuners are supported by the same driver package.
There's a settopbox installer available which makes the installation pretty easy.
(Link to the Settopbox Installer)
Sundtek Control Center:
basically you can also stream TV via network from one box to another one using the internal network feature (it can be set up in the sundtek control center). I think depending on the language settings it should also be available in english

Thanks for the info sundtek..
Hi,,
I just purchased a DVD-T Sundtek tuner from an Austech member for terrestrial channels here in Australia,.
I used Sundtek Settopbox Installer Mac to install drivers for Sundtek usb tuner.
Next i configured tuner to Australia Terrestrial
Then did an auto scan which found 40-60 channels.
The channels have picture but also lots of pixels and are not watchable.
Channle signal seems to be around 90%
Am I missing something or should this be working?
Thanks guys..
The pic link isn't working.
Signal strength isn't as important as signal 'quality'.
Signal quality is directly affected by the number of errors in the digital data stream, which is predominately measured in BER (Bit Error Ratio).
If the BER level is high (eg: a lot of errors) then the tuner cannot correct the errors fast enough and you get pixelation, or if there are too many errors, loss of reception altogether.
It's not uncommon to have good signal strength, but poor signal quality.
Signal strength can impact on signal quality.... too low or too high can increase the amount of bit errors.
Not sure what settings you are using, but you need to select DVB-T with 7MHz bandwidth for Australian Terrestrial.

Considering you have the tuner now and have started another thread on the pixelation/reception issue here:
I'll close this one.
