Default Bosch Sydney warehouse to close

It seems that the Bosch Sydney warehouse will close & all distribution done from Melbourne. Three or four NSW distributors have been arranged & all sales will be through them. When I asked how this will affect pricing , I was given that tired old line about competition keeping prices low. Yeah right, where have I heard that before

At least they are not shutting the doors like so many others

I am not so sure that pricing will be affected, based on the assumption
that Bosch product flyers are nationwide publications with pricing.

I can by stock from Bosch in Mount Waverely ( about an hour away )
or get it from APOL ( 10 mins away ). Price has always been the same.

Stock availability on the other hand is at times a concern with
off the cuff purchases, but generally overall it's pretty good.

When stock down here was low we always heard that "we"
are waiting on Sydney, now it's your turn.

Any distributor anywhere ceasing operations is not only a pain,
it's a bloody shame. I just hope they have done the maths and
don't bugger it up if it is confirmed
( your post here is the first i've heard ).

Hope it all works out, they are a good company, great staff
and fantastic products thank's to Meinrads gear.

    All the best ..........Pete

Came via a phone call from Bosch & followed up by an email telling me how it will "enhance my customer experience". I'll ring my favourite sales girl tomorrow to get the inside goss

Yeah, not a term that would promote contentment
if the steel caps were swapped.

Micron Alarms in Sydney were always pretty helpful and their pricing was identical to Bosch's.

Follows WA & Qld. The current appointments here for the intruder gear are kidding themselves with pricing. QVS has taken on the CCTV.

Time will tell how it all pans out I guess.

Bosch closed the doors in WA and QLD 6months ago, so it is hardly a surprise.
Even DAS in Brisbane have downsized considerably and they rehired the state manager as a salesman.
Wholesaling security only is very hard at the moment with so many players, its one thing we have done very differently to the others, we diversified into automation, controllers and nursecall and importantly - we continued to manufacture in Australia and export.
The business model of sell lots at low margins is the way these companies have played the game. The moment the volume drops it is end of story and both are controlled by bean counters. Just my 2c worth of course

So after a few enquiries it appears that the real story is that they are not closing the warehouse, they are just pissing the smaller customers off to approved distributors. How this enhances my customer experience they could not answer.

I got the same phonecall and email. Now if that is true what watchdog says, why didnt Bosch just put it straight up that we are not economical to have an account with them and must order from the following suppliers. I hate lies and totally unethical behaviour so I will putting bosch products on the bottom of my preferred parts supplier lists now, or not use them at all now.

Swap to DAS Panels Mate. At least DAS Panels can't be held ransom by an "Unlock Module" which costs you time and money when trying to take one over. We've probably installed 1k+ DAS Reliance 128 Panels over the past 12 months, most reliable panel on the market in my opinion. (obviously I am talking about your typical install, not a 65 Area School etc)

I,ve never been right into the DAS panels because of a quirk in the NX. If you try to turn the panel off while still in the exit period you have to enter your code about 4 times. Pisses me orf.

Can't say I've ever experienced that.

No I haven't had that issue on NX.
But I do have that issue on the Sol 6000,16+ type panels. Need to wait for the countdown bar to come up on screen then disarm it.

It's a bit incestuous like that. CSD in the old DAS building (now with half the old DAS employees), Security Distributors taking DAS's old phone number when they moved the first time etc etc etc....

Experienced this once with a NX16, never with a Reliance 128.

So I did a ring around of the preferred suppliers , being - Micron , ESS , Infocus and Controlware.
Micron - got prices on a few things as a test & they are about 8% more than I was paying direct from Bosch
ESS - never got someone to answer the phone
Infocus - sending a price list and verbally guaranteed my Bosch discount
Controlware - Only deal in CCTV (no intrusion) and are sending a price list

Not feeling the "enhancement" that Bosch promised me. As is so often the case loyalty seems to be a one sided affair. 16 years of buying pfft

Security is a relatively dms part of Bosch and Australia an even smaller part of that. Just like everything else, we get jipped. Too insignificant for the majors to really care.
