Default What are these leads called please?

Fairly sure they're just called rca plugs/cables but not sure. The 2 blue ones plugged in to the car amp on the right hand side in the first pic.
The second pic shows the same type. I want to move the amp up higher but the 2 cables plugged in aren't long enough, so want some extension leads.
    Thanks

    You're correct.

    They are RCA.

Hmmm. Would it be the same type of plugs that you use for the back of DVD/VCR type? Sure I have a heap of them somewhere.

Yes, RCA connectors are very commonly used on VCR/DVD etc.

Just avoid using the typically thin cables though, as they are usually poorly shielded and are prone to letting ignition/electrical noise into your audio system.

Thanks again mtv. The electrical noise was going to be my next question, as it makes that alternator whiny noise at low volume, but that's probably a question for a car section.

That alternator noise is more likely coming through your power leads (which should be directly from the battery).

If you don't already have one fitted, you need a DC Noise Filter like .

It also can be down to a bad earth connection from the amp to the cars bodywork so clean the bodywork and remove the bolts paintwork to the silver and get a clean tight connection and keep the earth cable as short as possible .

Also your phono leads maybe crossing your ignition live wiring so try to move them away from any power sources and if you can while the engine is idling try move them to another area of the car until the whining noise dissapears ,the amp looks like a cheap jetsound or boss audio 2ch so there known for earthing problems m8 .
