I didn't thinkk Fox IQ's HDD were upgradeable??
What would I know, guess I missed something.??
Decided to upgrade hdd in my iQ box. 320GB to 2TB.
Formatted with Fat32 file system but getting error H9-11P
Do I also need to sys copy any existing files?
Any thoughts?

It's a normal SATA 3.5" drive. theoretically it should be an easy process. I am running out of space and I did not want to delete any shows.
I was hoping someone in here did this job already and could share some info. Another interesting thing is that when I swapped 2 original drives between two iQ boxes they did not see any existing recordings but had no issues recognizing the drives and could record new shows. I will try to sys copy existing files to a bigger drive and test it again. Still waiting for any suggestions.

If what you have already tried is correct, then clone the old drive to the new drive with a partition utility, then extend the drive into the unallocated space & everything should be good.
Unless the IQ's firmware has a drive size limitation??
EDIT: another limitation or compatibility issue you might come across is 4k sector drives?
Over the last few years, the data storage industry has been transitioning the physical format of hard disk drives from 512-byte sectors to 4,096-byte sectors (also known as 4K or 4KB sectors). This transition is driven by several factors. These include increases in storage density and reliability. This transition causes incompatibility issues with existing software (including operating systems and applications).
Use the values for "Bytes Per Sector" and "Bytes per Physical Sector" to determine the kind of drive that you have. To do this, use the following table:
Bytes Per Sector" value "Bytes per Physical Sector" value Drive type 4096 4096 4K native 512 4096 Advanced Format (also known as 512E) 512 512 512-byte native

The Foxtel IQ firmware may have a limit to the size of HDD supported (or not ?)
a lot of third party PVR's will only take a HDD up to a certain size
I think I have seen The Foxtel IQHD with up to a 1TB HDD,
good luck

2TB is not working :-(
I will get 1TB and will try on that
May be easier to just change your IQ STB with a Foxtel IQHD with 1TB HDD STB (self install from fOXTEL)
or wait for the Foxtel IQ3 rumored to be coming in November

I've noticed that there is one file which I think causes all the dramas. "2.STR" in "2" Folder.
I am using Symantec System Recovery 2013 to backup and restore the image to the new drive (without partition resizing option). that means that 2TB drive has 320gb partition and the rest is spare.
It passes the test and iQ works fine. When I try to restore hdd with resizing restore it fails. Then, I tried to extend the partition but I got a prompt to fix errors on disk in 2.str file before continue.
After fixing disk errors and extending partition iQ fails to recognize the drive.
Same problem with 500gb & 1TB drives.
Are there any other free software tools for this type of job?

Nothing would surprise me less to see that Foxtel arent using their own propitiatory software to prevent what your trying to achieve as they already wont let you run any copies off the installed HDD.
They have locked up the smartcards so it stands to reason they would want to control the HDD as well.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

Thanks Tiny - I forgot to mention that I have used that tool already. When extending partition it detects the problem with the file and after fixing it as I mentioned before drive does not work. I wanted to use a merge option instead of extend but it is not available in home edition of MiniTool, you would need to purchase a Pro version. I believe if we find the right software which ignores the disk errors this should be an easy task. I will test different apps of the net this weekend may be I'll find something useful.

How did you end up going with CC, I'd be interested to know if you had any success?
