Cant figure this out...

I have a smit irdeto purple cam that seemed to be working well until recently. All i get now is E33 invalid smartcard messages. Is it smoked?

On the flipside - I have an old (I mean 5 years old) Irdeto Cam (901633 Rev.1.0 FW 0.07) that i thought id try after years of collecting dust. Well i popped in v5.3 whitey and it works flawlessly. Very quick channel changes and no pixellation.

I thought these cams didnt work with 5.3? Guess I was wrong.

did you get that cam from cwispy or it may have been flashed to free cam, have a look in the set top units menu and see what it say's the cam actually is.

as for the purple cant help there as i had no luck when i had one so got rid of it

This is interesting as I have two purple cams working perfectly at the moment, but I don't recognise the SMIT name, can this anomaly be put down to manufacturer variables?

Well, it looks the same as mine, but I got mine in Germany.

SMIT's seem to be falling over in the current climate. I've read about a few now. No solution to your problem though.

heaps of info on the current situation with purple cams.(and some older Blue)

Also please supply full details of the cam.
Part # rev & everything you can from under " cam details" in your box..

You might need to flash your purple cam.

Also IF its marked as a Smit cam.. it may have been upgraded OTA..

I think Hoe has posted details on a few of his Smit cams being upgraded recently...

yes, i have advised smit and they say they will get back to me.....

interestingly, they had aurora cards in them when they were 'upgraded'. i was using a whitey in the card slot at the time.

Mine didnt have any cards in them. I used it from time to time to kickstart a white but nevertheless the cam was in the slot, empty. The box it was in was pointed at D2..

Looks like mine has packed it in also,Well some what.Had the cam out of a stb for a month or 2 didnt need it as im running a dreamax,Used it friday arvo to update whitey(not mine) as its been out of a box for 2 weeks.
Card updated in about 2-3min no problem.noticed today i had left it on a aroura channel since saturday go to check whitey E17
I can kick start with freecam 2-020 and all is well in purple cam.

I also got five of this cams and never been used I decided to see if they were working put them in in topfield 400 and humax5400 and tried strong 4658x and failed in all boxes with whity.but I have similar cam that was in box all time, is still working.
Very strange. any suggestions.
