    Default New Dishwasher - Help!

I make this post after weeks of reading endless reviews on Product Review, some on Whirlpool and 3 trips to The Good Guys and Harvey Norman.
Basically, the more i looked, the worse it all got. Too many options.....

I have narrowed it down the Bosch (come in 3 levels, Thailand, Spain, Germany) and perhaps a Meile (but they are a bit $$$)

To begin, we are coming from a dishwasher that has been ok, but has the WORST review in the world, admin also had one.

It has worked for 8 years and now it doesn't pump out. I started to pull it apart, then lost interest.

If you read Whirlpool, they all love Bosch mostly (The German model if you can)
We have also inspected LG, Samsung, Fisher&Paykel.... The missus doesn't want an ASKO, she has had one and didn't like it.

So here is where i am at!

Cheap Bosch for $899 Model No. SMS63L08AU (get good reviews)

With the above unit in mind, i thought i'd stretch the extra money for a German built Bosch for around $1300, but the reviews are worse than the cheaper unit?? Some lady has had 2 units in 3 years

Then there is a Meile for $1699

We both agree, we'd pay the extra money for Dishwasher if we knew it would last, but it seems, it just doesn't work that way.
Its all a bit of a gamble.....
Most repairs cost more than a replacement unit anyway.

I may have asked this before, but any input from members here?
Now i'm fried and on the verge of a meltdown, seems the $899 Bosch (SMS63LO8AU) is a safe bet between price and brand.
The Bosch SMS68M12AU also seems good.... But very bi-polar reviews

I really don't want to over think this, its just a dishwasher..... But i'll be spewing if it doesn't work that great, is noisy and/or fails in a couple of years.

I (and many others) had a nightmare with LG.

Pity your missus doesn't like ASKO... have now had one for several years with no issues.

I bought a German made Bosch ( ) and havent looked back.

Neighbours had their Asko shit its pants and flood their house out recently. 12k damage and the Asko was out of warranty by a couple of months. Insurance covered the damage, Asko basically said bad luck when they rang them.

If you want to fix the Teknica, I still have the old one in my garage. It started leaking which is why I retired it. Pump was fine, you can have the whole thing for nothing if you want it. I also have a brand new front door.

Miele. They occasionally do factory discounts....mine cost $999...$200 off RRP. Recently got the 4220 BRW and it is so quiet. I have an open kitchen that runs into the dining/lounge room. Could not watch a movie with the Westinghouse piece of crap but with the Miele it is so quiet you don't even know it is on.

The dishwasher comes direct from the factory in a Miele truck...the retailers just sell them for the factory so you hardly ever can haggle on the price.

Oh, another thing. The Miele has an anti flood solenoid at the tap..shuts off the water unless the dishwasher wants it so virtually no chance of a flood.

    Latest discounts:

Thanks admin, after looking in HM and GG this morning i came home and ripped into the Tekinca in the Garage, got it mostly apart when missus said, "What the F@#% are we doing this for, just put it back together and we'll get a new one"

I was fairly happy slap the sides back on and sit down

Ironic, we were just looking at that model right now!
Seems all good reviews, no complaints.

Yes, i know there is no budging on price with Miele, i know a builder that can get 5% off, but he has to buy $60K worth or Miele a year to keep that deal.
Hardly worth it. I like your Factory Discount, thats brilliant.

Had a Blanco for about 12 years, worked very well and was used nightly
Replaced it with a Smeg which is still going now for about 6 years
Preferred the Blanco as it had the option of shorter wash cycles

Oh well, if you change your mind let me know. This one was only in use for a couple of years so is in pretty good condition. The new stainless steel front is still in plastic, so it can be turned in to brand new condition and would save you a grand on a new one.

They are a generic rebadged unit. In my last house, I had the EXACT same dishwasher except it was a Haier and white. I had almost no probs with it, the one prob was easy fixed. It goes in to a 6 beep cycle and wont wash. Tip it on its side and it resets.

Is that a German made Bosch, when i opened the door of that model this morning the sticker said "Made in Spain" or "Made in Turkey"
It was the SMS68 and SMS69 that were German made.

EDIT: Checked your link, does say country of origin DE.

Yep, its German made , as you mentioned all info is engraved in to the top of the door when you open it on Bosch. My model may not be still in production, I have had it for a few years now. Its very quiet.

Thanks admin. I'd be thankful yours in a Germany model, from what i saw this morning, a lot more and even creeping up into higher models are made in Turkey and Spain.
I didn't find a Thailand one today. Not sure if country of origin makes any real world difference, but even the $1500 Bosch models were made in Spain from what i found this morning.

I've got one of those as well, works well when motivated
In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

Ahhh... perhaps that's the reason for the missus disliking the ASKO.... might have the Swedish equivalent..... yeah I know... try writing to Santa.

    Warranty's

Siemens 5 Year Parts and Labour
    AEG 5 Year Replacement warranty
    Miele 2 Year P&L
    Bosch 2 Year P&L

    Most others are 2 years
(Note: Bosch used to offer a 3 Year warranty, it is now 2 Years)

AFter more reading and taking into consideration the input of members here, we still came back to about the same results.
We did do a bit of looking into the AEG with its 5 Year Warranty, but when you look into it, plenty of people have had trouble with the AEG machines, and the service hasn't been that impressive.

So its back to 2 Bosch Models and the Miele.

The very confusing thing for us, is the 2 Bosch models.
There are almost identical, only one is made in Germany with an all S/S liner and one is Turkish with a plastic internal base.

So the only difference in Model number the "L" and the "M"
    L = Turkish
    M= Germany

What does my head in, is the German model gets such a bad wrap on Product Review compared to the Turkish one (granted, there isn't enough reviews on the Turkish one yet)

    German Bosch:
    Turkish Bosch:

    For virtually the same machine.

And to step into a Miele, you need to hand over another $600 (over the cheaper Bosch).

Well, i hope this has helped anyone looking for a Dishwasher.
Seems all makes and models can suffer from problems, even the Miele's.
And high Warranty times don't necessarily mean a pain free life either.
Its just a matter of Price vs Expectation and hope for the best

    All Stainless Steel finish.........

    Turkish Bosch (SMS63L08AU) $899
    German Bosch (SMS63M08AU) $1299
    Miele (G 4420 SC AUS) $1699 - $200 discount, so $1499.

So from my reckoning, buy the cheaper Bosch for $899 and be happy with the savings, as buying the Bosch middle of the road models for around $1299, you might as well buy the Miele for a $200 more. Especially given the review of the more expensive Bosch.
I'm sure some people get a brilliant run out of each and all of these units, it really is hard to quantify into a single answer.... or a correct answer.

Note: In all fairness, i didn't include ASKO in our findings, which could be a good option, its just the missus had a bad experience with on previously.
Although she cant seem to tell me what it was she didn't like about them.
