Both look good & definitely buildable.

Both are missing Operating System, Optical drive, Monitor, keyboard & mouse; assume you have these?

You will need a 64bit OS to utilise the 16GB of RAM.

Looks like a top end Video Editing rig or a Gaming rig.
    What's your usage intention?

I'm with Tiny, what do you hope the rig to do for you? If you are looking at running Linux, you may also run into troubles with some of the hardware. As most stuff if developed for Windoze you'll not have too much trouble there. Cost of OS, Monitor, Optical drive, keyboard/mouse can add a few hundred more to cost.

I am using it mainly for gaming and will also do a little video editing work
I may wait for Window 10 or using Window 8 for now
If i only use it for album/concert. Can i use external Optical drive?
    Or internal would be better?

Win 8 will be no problem, Win 10 may be a little tricky if you build this yourself, what will happen is when you power it up the first time & install windows 10 it will identify all components & install generic Drivers, then when you install the component driver software & drivers such as for your display card it will possibly only have compatible drivers for Win 8 & before.

So you fix this by going to the display card manufacturers website & download their Driver upgrade for Win 10 & install it.

You can use an external optical drive, but an internal will be cheaper & more efficient.

Internal Panasonic BD blue-ray burner can be found for ~$80

    DVD only (no BD) ~$20

    Best places to buy components;

To give you an idea the following is what I built 18 months ago for video editing..

The CoolerMaster Case & PSU I got are so quiet it's hard to tell the PC is running, perfect for gaming & Video Editing.

For gaming you would need to upgrade the Display card to your budget.

BitFenix Alchemy Multi-Sleeved SATA III Cable With Lock $8.03
Logitech MK320 Wireless Desktop Combo $39.00

All components purchased from MWave online store for a total of $1,840.79 + $80 freight to rural Tas.

I assembled the components & installed drivers & software, no major dramas. Can't fault any of them yet.
Biggest problem was the Drivers disc for the EVGA Video card had upto Win 7, which wouldn't instal & Windows 8 used a generic PnP video driver which wouldn't update thru Windows as it didn't recognize the card or the monitor, so I went to the EVGA website downloaded the latest Win8 64 bit driver & it installed perfectly.

Thanks to all for your input.
I'm real happy with the results after installing software, haven't had a prog yet that wouldn't work - including some pretty old ones.
The speed of Video editing & the ability to do it with Full HD files without low res shadow files is impressive.

I've just had a play with 8.1 and have actually found it quite a pleasant change from 8, so don't write off windoze 8.1 too quickly.

Good on you, it will work out & if an unforeseen problem occurs you have support here.

It's really easier than you think, only a step or 2 up from Lego or Meccano (yeah I'm old)

Oh BTW the case & PSU will come with enough screws & cables to have spares left over.
    Cheers, Tiny
