The Seven Network are using fibre from Beijing, so there goes that source.

Well there will be uplink feeds from remote areas. Dont think the fibre optic will run that far.

Here's something anyway: Asiasat has been contracted by Eurovision to supply multiple transponders on the Asiasat 2 satellite during the Beijing Olympic Games in August, Asiasat announced July 1.
Eurovision will use Asiasat 2 to provide high-definition coverage of the event. Eurovision has been using Asiasat 2 as part of its global network to transmit regular and live video to its customers in Asia, Australasia and Europe since 1999.
“Eurovision is a valued client of Asiasat, who has built an impressive brand and expanded their business in Asia over the years by providing quality and reliable services,” Asiasat CEO Peter Jackson said in a statement.

buggar, I can only get as far as AS4 onmy 65 motorised, but I guess it would be worth checking the feeds on D2 as there were some feeds for pre-olympics warmup events?

Now most probably knew this, I didn't, but Chinasat 9 was launched on June 8 2008 (2 months ago) to provide FTA coverage via Satellite for the Chinese. It's at 92.2E on KU and the footprint is no-where near Oz. BUT the channels it's pumping out to, are ones we can see on Chinasat6B and some of the Asiasats. (CCTV network)

TVNZ's Pacific Service, TVNZ Sport, the International Olympic Committee and Oceania National Olympic Committees have combined to ensure viewers right across the Pacific, from Palau and the Federated States of Micronesia to the Cook Islands and Niue, can receive extensive satellite coverage of the Games.

It is envisaged that up to 17 TV stations will ultimately receive the extended coverage, a special feed produced by TVNZ Sport in Auckland and delivered into the Pacific by TVNZ Pacific Service, starting on August 6.

ABS will provide two C-band transponders on its ABS-1 satellite for Eurovision’s live transmissions from Beijing throughout the month of August. Eurovision will uplink to ABS-1 from Beijing and downlink directly in Europe

For people in the West, Multichoice has DSTV which provides Supersports Channels and will have 3 x 24hr coverage. So maybe that multichoice file might come in handy for the 'public'.

12456H is a NZ only spot beam, I understand this can not be received in Australia at all.

I was watching CCTV9 last night and they stated that due to the IOC restrictions CCTV9 wil not be allowed to show any of the olympics coverage outside of mainland China.

Yes, correct, as most similar to NHK World ( Int.8 - C-Band ) that also suppressed the actual coverage of Beijing Olympic especially recorded events with oft-display intertitle reading like "We cannot broadcast this tranmission due to copyright issue" on unstoppable pop-ups for seemingly no reason. We are beginning to blow our hot-head fumes at NHK, as we felt being discriminated !
