    Default Help

Gday, I have stumbled across a job where iControl is installed and the customer is now wanting to use the security system after never being used. Is there any chance of getting hold of the manuals? The customer is also entertaining the idea of installing additional lights. Do they still produce iControl hardware? Thanks for any help thrown this way.

    Hi Frags,

You're new here. Are you a licenced installer? A DIYer? A Sparkie? The answer depends...

I haven't programmed an iControl system in years, at the time I know it was the best system for the money but as soon as Legrand took over HPM everything stopped and iControl got the boot. With IBAS software there are different versions by memory 1.15, 1.16 and 1.17
the main factors to the system failing was Heat, power fluctuations, and over loading of Dimming units.

Pretty brave statement to make. In my opinion it was never the best system for anything at any time except in certain peoples minds that were selling it.
Also, cheaper doesn't equal better. I have had the misfortune to have been involved with the product many years ago but learned very quickly to forget all about its existance.

There wasn't at the time a product that you could retro fit into an old house without destroying walls in order to get a cat 5 or sheilded twisted pair down to a switch in order to have a bus wiring system or that you could tap off at any point and continue the BUS cable. I believe it was the easiest programmable system compared to Dynalite or C-Bus even though C-Bus have made programming easier now days. Since Legrand took over and tried to introduce their own systems which don't work, like "beticno", and ceased manufacturing of iControl I have refused to install any HPM product anywhere.

if you have a paradox system there, the PRT3 'printer' module can send strings to automation control systems - may not be perfect for everything, but it's EASY to implement!

Hi Goldstorm, I have recently purchased a house with iControl security and lighting, I am after the owners manual / programming manual, the system is telling me that the keypad is locked, pressing the right buttons unlocks but then it will lock again automatically, if you still have the manuals I would be very gratefull. Thanks. cookie129

    Hi Cookie
I have had many headches with icontrol. The manual is not that easy to follow. If you need a copy, let me know and I can email it to you.
Alternatively, if you are in sydney, there is a guy called Paul Arico who is still running support for the system.
I had him out to regrogram the system. he is very helpful
    his mobile is 0408 117 115

    Default CONTROL System

If anyone still has questions regarding the iCONTROL system
I know this back to front and still service jobs weekly throughout Queensland.
Remote support some systems in WA
I can set up remote support for this system. Parts are available, I have stock.
Its not dead yet! although support seems to have died pretty quick around the country. I am very much active with the system still and can provide help.

iControl was supported by DAS thus had HLI to the NX. Much easier option if one is to go down that path. Sending "strings" between devices is all good and well but if they're not talking the same stringlish, then you're in for a world of hurt. Anyway, the products done and dusted now. There are much easier and well supported options for alarm system integration now that come with a bucket Los more bells and whistles.
