Yes that was a big mistake by aussie Jack Miller!!
He got a little greedy or overwhelmed by being up with the factory bikes, came into the corner from a little far back with too much speed into the side of his team mate Cal Crutchlow. Cal will not be happy.

Yes, a sensational race, with a brilliant outcome.

Started a Dry Race, then restart a wet Race.
Some great dicing between riders and the conditions.
MM fell off with no ones help, i guess we can be thankful he wasn't going up the inside of Rossi at the time!!!
Miller... WTF was that?? Did his brain snap back to his Moto3 days of ridiculous late breaking and diving up the inside.
That accident started 80meters from the corner... Poor Crutchlow, home crowd, home track... and taken out by his Aussie Team mate.
    Never mind the Ashes boys....

And unlucky for Jorge who couldn't see out of his fogged up visor.

Well, Another Rossi win and back on top of the points!
Who would have thought He has be playing a very smart season so far, can hope it pans out well for him.
Can't wait for the next round!

Our Jack might be looking for ride next year,
I'm sure someone will pick him up but maybe not in Moto GP
Mind you there could be a spot at Aspar if Hayden goes to WSBK

In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

I think Cecchinello is trying to prompt a response from HRC as to what equipment they will get next year so he can attract another major sponsor & also giving his riders a reminder that all is not guaranteed - we need results!!

Miller seems pretty secure in the fact that he has another 2 years with HRC, so where he goes is secondary.
Maybe the ASPAR team is possible? Depends on what HRC want for Jack?

He hasn't shown enough this season, yet, to promote a ride on a 3rd factory bike at Repsol Team Honda, only time will tell.
It certainly didn't help his chances in Britain when he turned what could have been well placed finishes for both himself & Cal into DNF's.

Miller is in the first of a three-year deal with HRC. Should he not be in LCR colours in 2016, there is a possibility he could be placed in Aspar's Honda squad with the same crew around him.

On Sunday after the main race, Miller said that he expects “to be on a Honda [in 2016] with Cristian [Gabbarini – his current crew chief] and those guys but where it'll be I don't know.
    Cheers, Tiny

Looking forward to this weekends GP so lets have a StatAttack.

    MotoGP™ #StatAttack: San Marino GP

Take a look ahead to the Gran Premio TIM di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini with a smorgasbord of all the stats you need.

This is the 9th year in a row that Misano has hosted the San Marino GP. Below are some facts and statistics related to this event:

    • The first grand prix event to take place at Misano was in 1980; the 500cc race was over 40 laps of the circuit that measured 3.448 km and ran in an anti-clockwise direction and was won by Kenny Roberts.

    • The Misano circuit hosted a GP event for a total of ten occasions between the years of 1980 and 1993.

    • Misano did not have a grand prix event for thirteen years following the accident that ended the career of Wayne Rainey in 1993.

    • When GP racing returned to Misano in 2007, it was on a much revised 4.18 km circuit running in the opposite direction to the earlier layout.
    • Yamaha have been the most successful manufacturer in MotoGP™ since the grand prix series returned to Misano in 2007 with six victories. Both Ducati and Honda have had a single MotoGP™ win at the Misano circuit during this period.
    • Misano is the only current grand prix circuits where Honda have not taken a single win in the MotoGP™ class in the last four seasons.
    • The most successful rider at Misano since racing returned to the circuit in 2007 is Jorge Lorenzo, with four victories: the 250cc GP in 2007 and in MotoGP™ for the successive years from 2011 to 2013.
    • Dani Pedrosa’s victory in 2010 is the last time that the MotoGP™ race at Misano was won by a rider starting from pole position.
    • Misano is one of just three circuits where Marc Marquez has not had a win in the MotoGP™ class, along with Motegi and Phillip Island.
    • There have been seventeen previous San Marino Grand Prix events. The first San Marino Grand Prix was held at Imola in 1981. Three different circuits have hosted the San Marino Grand Prix – Imola twice (1981 & 1983), Mugello four times (1982, 84, 91 and 93) and Misano on eleven occasions (1985, 86, 87 and from 2007 onwards).
    • Valentino Rossi’s win at Misano last year ended a sequence of 23 successive MotoGP™ wins by Spanish riders (Marc Marquez – 16, Jorge Lorenzo – 5, Dani Pedrosa – 2), just five short of the all-time record for successive wins in the premier-class of GP racing set by riders from the USA across the 1982/83/84/85 seasons (Freddie Spencer – 13, Kenny Roberts – 6, Eddie Lawson – 5, Randy Mamola – 4).
    • The first two riders across the line in all three of the races at Misano last year were team-mates (MotoGP: Rossi and Lorenzo - Movistar Yamaha MotoGP, Moto2: Rabat and Kallio - Marc VDS Racing Team, Moto3: Rins and Marquez - Estrella Galicia 0,0). The last time that this had occurred was at the Dutch TT in 1996, when the first two riders in each race were:- 500cc: Mick Doohan and Alex Criville - Repsol Honda, 250cc: Ralf Waldmann and Jurgen Fuchs - HB Honda Germany, 125cc: Emilio Alzamora and Ivan Goi - Cepsa EffeUno Matteoni.
    Cheers, Tiny

    Wow what a crazy race;
I couldn't believe how long Rossi ignored his pit board & stayed out on disintegrating wets.
Well done to Marquez for being the smarter of the 3.

Marc Marquez wins one of the most dramatic MotoGP™ races ever ahead of Smith and Redding, with Rossi in fifth and Lorenzo crashes out.

Repsol Honda’s Marquez took his fourth win of the season at the Gran Premio TIM di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini in some of the most difficult conditions the MotoGP™ World Championship has seen in recent years. The Spaniard took his 23rd MotoGP™ victory after gambling in a flag-to-flag race that saw most riders pit twice due to the changing conditions.
A record 92,000 fans at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli bore witness to an incredible spectacle but were denied a Valentino Rossi victory as the Italian crossed the line in fifth. Rossi managed to extend his lead in the championship standings to 23 points over teammate Lorenzo after the Spaniard crashed out of the race in second.
There was drama on the grid as drops of rain started to fall, riders setting off on their Warm Up lap with baited breath. Meanwhile, Ducati Team’s wildcard Michele Pirro had an issue with his GP15 and was forced to start from pit lane on his second bike, equipped with wet tyres.
The rest of the MotoGP™ field started on slicks with Jorge Lorenzo setting a scalding pace from the start with a trademark launch off the line. Small battles emerged throughout the opening lap, but drama came as the white flags were flown on lap two. This signaled that all riders were able to come in and swap to their second bikes if conditions deteriorated.
Lorenzo forged ahead undeterred with Marc Marquez close behind, the duo able to break away from Valentino Rossi who struggled in the opening laps. All the while rained continued to fall, some riders pushed even harder in the conditions while many tiptoed around, waiting to follow their rivals into the pits. By lap six the pace had dropped by close to six seconds and Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda) found himself battling the Ducati Team pair of Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso, but the riders were visibly timid in the tricky conditions.
Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Racing’s Scott Redding had been involved in this battle for fourth, but on the seventh lap disaster struck as the Brit ran on and dropped his Honda. Determined as ever, he sprinted to his bike and dove into the pits for wet tyres. By this stage the majority of MotoGP™ riders had also opted for wet bike change, just the front three of Lorenzo, Rossi and Marquez staying out.
As is usual in racing, the top three all dove into the pits together, adopting the same strategy as your rival is often the safest option in unusual circumstances such as the San Marino GP. Even in pit lane there was drama as Marquez and Lorenzo almost collided, the Yamaha rider gesturing to Marquez to ‘stay calm’ as they returned to track.
With the three re-joining at the same time, it was clear Lorenzo and Marquez had a quicker pace than Rossi and the Italian soon found himself 2.5 seconds behind Lorenzo. Lorenzo himself was able to get through on Marquez at Turn 8 when the Honda rider ran wide on the tenth lap. All riders found it difficult to tell where was wet and where was dry as the new Misano surface is quite dark.
But as the track began to dry, Rossi began to fly. The Italian gaining over a second a lap on the two leaders with each circulation, despite his front wet tyre rapidly starting to deteriorate. Worried mechanics worked hurriedly in pit lane, preparing bikes for a second change of the race.
Loris Baz (Forward Racing) was one of the first to jump back onto slicks, the Open rider soon finding himself inside the top ten as the rest of the field also opted to change back. Meanwhile, Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) was struggling outside the points having remained on slicks throughout the entire race. The Brit followed his instincts to risk it after missing the opportunity to change with the rest of the pack.
Again, it was the top three who stuck together and stayed out long after the others. Rossi and Lorenzo battling tooth and claw for multiple laps as Marquez played it safe, waiting behind the Yamaha pair and assessing their tyres. On lap 18 Marquez decided it was time to swap back to slicks, a move that would prove to be a masterstroke. Lorenzo would join Marquez on slicks the following lap while Rossi continued to push ahead, 92,000 fans roaring in approval.
Disaster struck as ‘The Doctor’ pitted, with just seven laps to go Lorenzo fell at Turn 15. The Mallorcan suffered a small contusion to his right hand and his Yamaha M1 took a severe beating, but it was his championship hopes that came off worst of all. With eyes transfixed on the front-runners, Baz, Redding and Smith continued their silent charge through the order.
Marquez had chosen the perfect time to pit, he had built enough of an advantage to maintain a solid lead in the race even with his second pit stop and Smith’s gamble to stay out on slicks was finally paying off after a multitude of laps spent tiptoeing around and dropping as low as 21st, the Brit in a solid second now. As Lorenzo fell, Baz was promoted into third.
Sadly for the Frenchmen this would not last as Redding, who had swapped to slicks earlier than many riders after being unable to find a good feeling on wets, rapidly gained on the Open rider, passing him with four laps to go.
The positions settled in with just a handful of laps remaining and for the fourth time in 2015 Marquez secured victory, his first MotoGP™ victory at Misano. An elated, and somewhat surprised, Bradley Smith joined him with a second place finish and Scott Redding rounded out the podium with his first premier class podium finish. This was the first time since the 1979 Venezuelan GP (Barry Sheen & Tom Herron) that two British riders have finished on a podium in the premier class. Loris Baz may have been forced off the podium, but a fourth place finish delivers an incredible result for his Open Championship campaign.
With the yellow smoke settled and customary post-race track invasion dispersed, Rossi maintains his lead of the MotoGP™ World Championship with 247 points, now 23 clear of Lorenzo due to his DNF. Marquez jumps to 184, a comfortable margin ahead of Andrea Iannone who has 159 points. A second MotoGP™ podium gifted Britain’s Bradley Smith 20 points and cements him in fifth overall. Loris Baz jumps to 15th overall in the World Standings, with 28 points, now five points ahead of Hector Barbera (Avintia Racing) in the Open battle.
It was another excellent ride in tricky conditions for Octo Pramac Racing’s Danilo Petrucci on the upgraded GP14.2 he was given after his first podium at Silverstone last time out. He crossed the line in sixth ahead of the factory Ducati duo of Andrea Iannone (7th) and Andrea Dovizioso (8th).
Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa only just beat Aleix Espargaro on the Team Suzuki Ecstar GSX-RR to the line by 0.126s as they finished in ninth and tenth respectively. LCR Honda’s Cal Crutchlow managed to hold off his teammate Jack Miller (12th) to cross the line in 11th while Mike Di Meglio (Avintia Racing) pulled off his best result of the season as he finished in 13th.
Alongside Lorenzo there was misfortune for Alex De Angelis (E-Motion IodaRacing Team) and Yonny Hernandez (Octo Pramac Racing) who came together at Turn 6. With just two laps to go Pol Espargaro (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) also fell, his fourth DNF of the year.

    Yes, just finished watching it.
    What another insane race!!
It just leaves all other motorsport classes for dead.

Agreed Tiny, i couldn't believe Rossi stayed out as long as he did, but, he was playing a different strategy to just winning the race.
Still, if Jorge didn't fall off, it would not have been a good result for Rossi.
Rossi has been incredibly lucky this year, gaining from the misfortune of others.
I knew the race was over, the second MM looked over his shoulder and let the other 2 pass.
Very mature of MM, a lesson learnt from a few years ago when he stayed out on slicks for far too long leading the a race, until he finally crashed out.

Watching the crowd response from Rossi on the Podium (solo appearance), you'd think he just won the world title!
Brilliant to see the 2 Poms on the Podium too, and well done MM, you just out smarted them and rode away like the World Champ you are!

So, with the points lead Rossi has now.
Can he finish 3rd in every remaining race and still win the World Championships?
Regardless of where Jorge or MM finish?

    No.

With 5 rounds remaining; if Jorge wins every race & Rossi is second in all 5, Jorge will win the championship by 2 points.

The chances of that scenario are unlikely though with Marquez & Pedrossa factoring heavily in the mix; also the possible odd intrusion of the top 4 places by Smith, Ianone, Dovisioso, as well as A & P Espargaro??

So third for Rossi in every race is a possible chance for Champ if MM or someone other than Jorge wins every race.
Jorge second every race & Rossi third gives Rossi the Champ by 3 points.

It will be a nail biting end to the year.
    Cheers, Tiny

George should have come in when his team told him to. It would have been a different result.

MotoGP scheduled live (I assume?) on FTA channel OneHD at 21:33 for the pre-race show and/or 22:13 for race start.

Interestingly, I checked the FTA EPG for channels TEN & OneHD and the TEN network don't appear to be screening the F1 race at all today or tonight?

Bummer for you Bigfella, yeah they would be live times for MotoGP. Don't read my report on F1 as it's been run & done already.

MotoGP Qualifying interesting, Rossi not quite where he'd like to be, Lorenzo fast & Marquez faster, new fastest lap of track + another close to that, then a fall next lap. No injury apparent, he's still in the young & bounce back stage of his career..

    yeah, go Moto3.

Motogp, wasn't a good day for Marquez again, got to stop falling down!!!.
    Lorenzo the victor.
Great dice between Rossi & pedrosa with Pedrosa comming out on top, well ridden, about time he stood up for himself.

Jorge Lorenzo takes his sixth win of the season ahead of Dani Pedrosa and championship rival Valentino Rossi as Marc Marquez crashes out.
Movistar Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo rode brilliantly to secure his 60th career GP victory in front of 67,000 fans at the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón. Repsol Honda’s Pedrosa was involved in an excellent fight with Rossi over the final few laps for the second step of the podium at MotorLand Aragon. Eventually Pedrosa would beat Rossi to the line by just a tenth of a second, while his teammate Marc Marquez crashed out of the race.
This means that Lorenzo has reduced Rossi’s advantage in the standings by 9 points to just 14 heading into the flyaway rounds, with just four races remaining. Movistar Yamaha’s first double podium since Brno saw them lift the team title for the first time since 2010.
There was drama at the start, as Marquez seemed to make a mistake allowing Lorenzo to lead into the first corner with Iannone in second, as the pole man dropped down to third. The Spaniard recovered to make a move on Iannone into second through the first few corners and set off after Lorenzo at the front.
Rossi, who knew he couldn’t let Lorenzo get away, started making his way through the field from sixth on the grid immediately, moving up to fifth at the end of the first lap at the expense of Pol Espargaro. The Italian was already two seconds behind Lorenzo in second.
Unbelievably, just as he was closing down Lorenzo at the front, Marquez lost the front at turn 12 and crashed out of the Aragon GP for the second year in a row. It was Marquez’s fifth DNF of the year - the most he has ever had in a World Championship season - which sees him now trail Rossi by 70 points in the standings with only 100 up for grabs.
Marquez's crash moved Iannone up into second, but not for long as Marquez’s teammate Pedrosa passed the Ducati man on the 3rd lap. All the while Lorenzo was looking untouchable at the front as he opened up a 2.4s lead by the end of lap 3.
Rossi knew he had to get a move on and he passed Iannone to move into 3rd on the 4th lap, although at this point he was lapping 0.3s a lap slower than Lorenzo as his teammate opened up a 3 second lead at the front. Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Espargaro was involved in the battle for fourth with Iannone when he ran wide on lap 6 and dropped down to 11th.
By lap 8 both Pedrosa and Rossi started to lap faster than Lorenzo and the gap had been reduced to 2.6s. Lorenzo got the “hurry up” signal from his pit board and responded, managing his pace beautifully over the next few laps.
Further back through the field Team Suzuki Ecstar’s Aleix Espargaro had caught Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) in sixth and was starting to attack, while Cal Crutchlow and Danilo Petrucci also started to close in on the duo in front of them. That was before Petrucci trailed the brakes too much into turn 14 with 13 laps to go and lost the front, leading to Petrucci’s first DNF since the Malaysian Grand Prix last year. Smith, Espargaro and Crutchlow caught up with Ducati Team’s Andrea Dovizioso in fifth with 12 laps to go and an excellent battle ensued between the four riders. However Smith ran wide at turn 1 and dropped to the back of the group, undoing all of his hard work.
With 10 laps to go the gap at the front between Lorenzo and Pedrosa was up to 3.3s, with Rossi still hanging onto the back wheel of the Repsol Honda in third. Lorenzo was riding a simply brilliant race at the front, consistently running in the 1’48s and increasing his lead on every lap.
Rossi meanwhile, was starting to size up Pedrosa ahead of him in an effort to secure a vital extra 4 championship points by finishing in second. With 5 laps to go he made his first move in anger into turn 4 but Pedrosa immediately responded to re-take the Italian. Undeterred, Rossi tried it again into turn 1, but he couldn’t get it stopped and once more Pedrosa fought back as the two became embroiled in a spectacular duel over the final few laps.
On the penultimate lap, once again Rossi made a move under braking into turn 1, but once again he could not get his M1 stopped and couldn’t make it stick as Pedrosa showed incredible grit to fight back. It was shaping up for an epic final lap battle between the two and it didn’t disappoint, Rossi went past in turn 4, before Pedrosa stuffed it up the inside into turn 7. It seemed as though Pedrosa had second in the bag, before Rossi made an outrageous move through turn 15, but once more he couldn’t make it stick. The Italian sacrificing the drive onto the back straight in an effort to make the pass, meaning Pedrosa could power his way back past Rossi.
In an incredibly exciting finish Pedrosa managed to hold on through the final corner to take second by just nine-hundredths of a second from Rossi. All the while Lorenzo rode the perfect race at the front as he took his 39th premier class victory by over 2.6s.
It was Pedrosa’s 97th premier class podium, but only his third of the season and first since the German GP. Rossi claimed his 14th podium from just 15 races this season and the 209th in his illustrious GP career, although the damage done to his championship lead could prove to be costly in his bid for a tenth title.
Ducati Team’s Andrea Iannone ended up in an excellent fourth despite having to ride through the pain due to the shoulder he re-dislocated earlier in the week. He crossed the line 16 seconds ahead of his teammate Andrea Dovizioso who finished in fifth after holding off the charging pack behind him.
Aleix Espargaro came out victorious in the battle for sixth, crossing the line ahead of Cal Crutchlow and Bradley Smith in a frantic dash to the line. Pol Espargaro managed to fight his way back into ninth, while Yonny Hernandez on the Octo Pramac Racing Ducati completed the top ten.
EG 0,0 Marc VDS’s Scott Redding finished in twelfth, while Aprilia Racing Team Gresini's Alvaro Bautista crossed the line in 13th in his 100th GP. Eugene Laverty (Aspar MotoGP Team) took his first Open victory in 14th as he beat his teammate Nicky Hayden to the line by less then a tenth of a second. Forward Racing’s Loris Baz was in 17th having earlier announced he . Australian Jack Miller on the Open LCR Honda finished in 19th while there were crashes for Karel Abraham and Alex De Angelis.
All of this means that Rossi (263pts) saw his advantage over Lorenzo (249pts) in the MotoGP™ championship standings reduced by nine to just 14 points with four races remaining. Marquez (184pts) remains in third, but now he is only 8 points ahead of fourth placed Iannone.

Yep, MotoGP was another insane race!
Great to see Pedrosa ride like he normally does, then again, he had a good advantage with bike speed.

Felt sorry for MM this race, a silly mistake that took him out.
What is even more amazing, is he has DNF'd 5 times this year and still sits in 3rd position of the World Championships
