    Default Formula One 2015 Season

Well breaking news, great for Foxtel Viewers and not so great for FTA viewers.

Fox are going to need a couple more sports channels with all this stuff!!

FOX Sports has scored a major coup by securing the broadcast rights to Formula 1 racing in a historic five-year deal alongside Channel 10 and Foxtel, in time for the 2015 season. In a big win for the sport’s diehard fans, Fox Sports will air the entire 2015 season lock, stock and barrel, with every race, qualifying and practice session set to be shown live and in high definition for the first time in Australia.

Personally I can't wait, more motorsport than you can poke a stick at.

I'm definitely going to need the iQ3 when it gets released.
There is going to be some clashes with all this live motorsport.
    Cheers, Tiny

Yep, only 10 of the 20 races are broadcast by 10, if you believe the above.
Yet 10 just put their new super motorsports team together...

Either way, i am so looking forward to Ricciardos season!
He has already started the year on a high note smashing the TopGear Lap record.
    A very bankable young lad.

I think you will find the other 10 races will be a delayed telecast package on TEN network.

Can't agree more, bring it on. Just told the missus about it & she said ; "yippee. Only problem is we'll never get anything done on a weekend this year."

The other 10 races wont be shown on FTA, all they are going to do is run a highlights show the day after each of the 10 races.

    Thanks 10 Network

This is not cricket or gayFL so nobody in Australia gives a damn.
TEN is half broke anyway. For the handful of tech nutters like us they can't afford it.

Well, I can't afford Foxtel and I don't see value for money.
Everywhere, everything is going for the worse these days so the rich can get richer. Of course this should also apply for entertainment.

Isn't that more or less what I said, the other 10 races will be shown in a delayed telecast package, I didn't see the need to say "highlights package" as that is all they have shown when live anyway.
There are so many adds that the races get disjointed with ad breaks & replays off what happened in the ad break that it becomes farcical.

EDIT: Don't forget that TEN network have had the exclusive live coverage of F1 for a long time, if they have chosen to opt out of the deal, why blame Fox for picking it up?
At least they didn't go exclusive & lock out Ten network like TEN did with MotoGP a couple of years back.
And really if you love your sport, $50 a month for Fox basic & sport aint a budget breaker for most people.
I have a neighbor that is a pensioner & he loves his sport, he thinks it's a bargain. Even adds Setanta for the soccer.
You break that down to ~$12.50 a week, 3 beers at the pub, 2 coffees at the local cafe, toll fee for crossing Sydney on toll roads/day?????

As far as I'm concerned the term delayed telecast package, could have meant they are going to show a delayed telecast of the complete race. A 1 hour highlights package will have maybe 45 minutes + 15 minutes for ad breaks. I'm sure a full F1 race on 10, ran for more than 45 minutes.

BTW I can't see where I bagged Foxtel for picking up F1

I'll never watch channel 10 again, I already have ptv. It's sad they've sold out. Now all motorsport is on ptv including v8's.

That is $600 I would now have to pay just to watch proper live F1 !
Sorry I disagree, that is not value for money.
Could fly to Malaysia cheaper and possibly be at the second race that is not televised, but I don't want to die yet.

I don't watch other sport except FIFA, OK a bit if the Asia cup too. BTW Australia won that cup. Luckily was still televised on FTA.

I hope there is somebody who can nut something out on Kodi, but I never found a live stream that actually worked.

Interesting first day of testing, I'll let tell the story.

Lotus’s Pastor Maldonado took advantage of a late soft tyre run to top an incident-filled first day of testing at Barcelona on Thursday.

Maldonado, who stopped twice with sensor issues in the morning, clocked a lap of 1m 25.011s in the E23 Hybrid with just under an hour of the session remaining to eclipse long-time pacesetter Kimi Raikkonen.

“It is always good to see your name at the top of the timing monitors and my fastest lap was just in the course of our normal programme for the day,” said the Venezuelan. “It feels good to drive the E23 in Barcelona. The car responded well to the changes we made and we were able to complete a good number of laps. The team has made strong progress since Jerez and we have a great starting point for the rest of the week.”

Raikkonen ended up just 0.156s back on what was another encouraging day for Ferrari, with the 2007 world champion completing 70 trouble-free laps in the SF15-T.Interestingly, both Maldonado and Raikkonen were faster than Lewis Hamilton’s 2014 pole position time at the same track for Mercedes.

Daniel Ricciardo had a couple of minor offs on his way to third fastest for Red Bull, just ahead of Sergio Perez in the year-old Force India VJM07. The Mexican hadn’t expected to be behind the wheel until Friday, but at the lunch break Pascal Wehrlein, who’d been driving for the Silverstone-based team on loan from Mercedes, was recalled to replace an unwell Lewis Hamilton. The world champion managed just 11 laps in the morning before deciding to end his day early.

Felipe Nasr gave more encouragement to Sauber by topping the morning timesheet, but in the afternoon the Brazilian rookie was involved in an unusual tangle with Williams’ Susie Wolff which left both drivers in the gravel and in need of repairs. Nasr eventually finished in fifth, Wolff in tenth.

“We had quite a lot of damage to fix, which hurt our programme,” said Nasr. “Considering the damage, the team did an amazing job to put the car back together in only a few hours. We were able to go out again and complete some checks. Despite the incident, it was a good day and I am positive about what I have seen today.”

Max Verstappen led the lap count, completing 94 for Toro Rosso on his way to the sixth best time of the day.

“We didn’t get as much done in the morning as we would have liked, but in the afternoon, we picked up the pace and I completed almost a race distance,” commented the Dutchman. “I’m very pleased about managing that, as it’s the first time I’ve done that many laps and it was a very useful experience. The same goes for the pit stops and the other race procedures that we practised.”

McLaren’s Jenson Button had a considerably less productive time for McLaren. The Englishman recorded an encouraging lap of 1m 28.182s in the morning before being sidelined for the rest of the session by a faulty seal on the MGU-K part of his Honda power unit.

“We’ll need to run a re-designed component to avoid a potential repeat of the problem,” said Yasuhisa Arai, Honda’s chief motorsport officer. “Unfortunately, we won’t be in possession of that updated part until Saturday, which means that we may face the same problem when we run again tomorrow.

“Such issues are all part of testing, but we’ll make the best changes we can overnight, and will plan for a productive day of running - with Fernando [Alonso] behind the wheel - tomorrow.”

Wehrlein ended with near identical lap times for both Force India and Mercedes, with team mate Hamilton in the unusual position of rounding out the timesheet.

“To drive two Formula One cars in one day was amazing, so I'm very happy,” commented Wehrlein. “We lost a bit of time in the garage which was a shame as I would have liked to do some more laps. But the time I had I really enjoyed.

“Spending the morning with Force India, also, was a great experience. It's a good team, everyone was really welcoming and after a few laps I felt very confident in the car. I will have another day with them this week so I am really looking forward to getting back out there again.”

Testing continues at Barcelona on Friday.

For more pictures from Barcelona, see our .

Unofficial Thursday testing times from Barcelona:
    1. Pastor Maldonado, Lotus, 1m 25.011s, 69 laps
    2. Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari, 1m 25.167s, 74 laps
    3. Daniel Ricciardo, Red Bull, 1m 25.547s, 59 laps

    5. Felipe Nasr, Sauber, 1m 27.307s, 79 laps
    6. Max Verstappen, Toro Rosso, 1m 27.900s, 94 laps
    7. Jenson Button, McLaren, 1m 28.182s, 21 laps

I would have been Tiny, only Wedding has got in the way
I've had a bad run of Weddings while Motorsports have been on in the last 12 months!
    Some people have no consideration

I am hoping Leroy can make the hat-trick of Motorsports events this year
But if he posts pics from the Isle of Man TT, i'm going to be seriously jealous.

Be nice to see some big local crowds to support Daniel Ricciardo
    Looks like rain for Qualifying:

Shame those Stadium Trucks aren't in Melbourne this weekend, that would be nuts!

EDIT: Interesting to see ONE HD's Team and Package to go up against Fox Sports!
Both have the token "Hot Chick" on the deck 1 Blonde, 1 Brunette... Could a man be any happier

2 competing networks, both live at the track, both with main desks, both hounding drivers for interviews......
Isn't it amazing what it took for Ch 10 to pull their finger out.
Of course, one has ads, one does not I see Foxtel is using the British Sky reporters, good stuff

Season has already started with controversy regarding drivers and licences and court rooms!

Sad to here about Fernando Alonso's retrograde amnesia after testing crash. Hadn't heard about that before.
    Hope he comes back soon.

McLaren have confirmed to Sky Sports that Fernando Alonso suffered 'temporary memory loss' following his accident in testing at Barcelona.

Alonso is reported to have when he regained consciousness after being knocked out when his McLaren car hit the track wall at the Circuit de Catalunya on the final day of the second pre-season test.
"I'm Fernando, I'm in karts and want to become Formula 1 driver," Alonso told doctors, according to El Pais newspaper.

    Ricciardo engine change??

Daniel Ricciardo’s home grand prix weekend got off to a difficult start on Friday when Red Bull was forced to change the engine on his car after just one practice session in Australia.

Teams have been allocated four power units for the season in 2015, but Ricciardo has been forced to make an early change due to a problem with the internal combustion engine (ICE) on his car.
The Australian does not believe that this will affect his seasonal quota, but was still disappointed to lose the entire second practice session on Friday because of the problem.
“In FP1 it took us a while to get going and we didn’t get out straightaway,” Ricciardo explained. “A problem with the ICE meant we couldn’t run in FP2, but it’s a problem that we can fix for tomorrow.
“There’s a lot of time to do what we need, so there’s no concerns – it wasn’t worth rushing it to get five laps this afternoon. We don’t believe it will affect one of the four engines, so it’s not a massive shot in the foot.”
Throughout the off-season, Ricciardo could hardly contain his excitement to get back racing after an impressive display in 2014, and made no secret of his frustration on Friday in Melbourne.
“The whole week’s been a bit of a tease,” Ricciardo said. “We’ve talked about racing a lot and haven’t done much of it. I’m more and more anxious to drive, so I’ve got ants in my pants.”
puts Ricciardo at a disadvantage with the lack of track time, at least he'll have plenty of unused tyres.
    Cheers, Tiny

Nothing short of a sensational day at Albert Park today!
Be interesting to see what rain falls tonight and what the track is like tomorrow.

I find the commentary from Mark Webber with all the technical details and car handling on 1HD especially on P3 very interesting. Dunno if you get that from the British reporters

Well no, on Fox we get the commentary (before, after & during) from different experts, Martin Brundle, Damon Hill & Johnny Herbert, it's all good.

BTW; I was using the Ten feed in-between Fox coverage, to watch the support races & it was good, great team, unfortunately they do get carried away with their couch stuff!

Good for all there is 2 ways to watch.

My new TV allows me to split screen, so I have ONE on one half and Foxtel on the other.
After today, I think I preferred to ONE feed
In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.
