Guess I"m posting this to myself?

Anyway, reasonably good race, but yes Merc 1 - 2, Rosberg wins, Hamilton second & Bottas a well deserved third after a big collision with Raikkonen, with Raikkonen breaking rear right suspension.

Vettel had a bad day at the office suffering a puncture in first/second corner incident with Ricciardo, then proceeded to have a worse day, ending up in the wall in the second half of the race after climbing back to 13th.

Ricciardo looked good for a while to get third or fourth then fell back.

    over to the experts,

Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg won Sunday’s Formula 1 Gran Premio de Mexico 2015 after a superbly measured drive saw him defeat team mate Lewis Hamilton by 1.9s. Valtteri Bottas took third for Williams, as Ferrari recorded their first double DNF since 2006.

F1’s return to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez produced a fascinating 71 laps of racing, in which polesitter Rosberg was never headed - pit stops aside - and in which a late safety car bunched the pack up, allowing Bottas to jump the Red Bull of Daniil Kvyat on the restart to secure his podium place.
Kvyat held on to fourth, fending off team mate Daniel Ricciardo, while Felipe Massa finished sixth in the sister Williams. Sergio Perez was beaten to seventh in his home race by Force India team mate Nico Hulkenberg, and Toro Rosso’s Max Verstappen and the Lotus of Romain Grosjean completed the top ten.
From his fourth consecutive pole, Rosberg took the lead at the start, and though he and Hamilton then traded fastest laps time and again, was always in control in the cleaner air. By the 51st lap he had stretched his advantage to 3.0s, with Hamilton disgruntled to have been ordered to stop for a fresh second set of medium tyres on the 48th lap after Rosberg had done so on the 46th. The team cited safety reasons.

Four laps later, however, Hamilton got a lifeline when Sebastian Vettel crashed his Ferrari and brought out the safety car for six laps.

The Ferrari driver had been in trouble right from the start, after contact with Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo in the first corner and sustaining a puncture which dropped him to the back of the field after a pit stop. He was fighting back towards the points when he spun at Turn 8 shortly after fighting past Jenson Button’s McLaren on the 17th lap, but it was his shunt at Turn 7 on the 52nd that ended a very hard day for the Scuderia. With Kimi Raikkonen crashing out on the 22nd lap, it was the first time they had had failed to get a car among the classified finishers since the 2006 Australian Grand Prix.

At the restart Rosberg controlled things perfectly, and Hamilton was never able to exploit the incident and get a look in, though he kept his team mate honest as he finished just under two seonds adrift. The success, Rosberg’s fourth of the season, went some way to making up for his recent disappointments in Russia and the United States, and boosts him back to second in the drivers’ championship, 21 points clear of Vettel.

The safety car helped Bottas, who earlier had once again collided with fellow countryman Raikkonen when they tangled at Turn 3 as the Ferrari driver tried to close a door through which the Williams pilot was already thrusting his car. At the restart Bottas was able to pass Kvyat, who had held what seemed like a safe podium position for much of the race. The disappointed Russian led home team mate Ricciardo, from Massa, Hulkenberg and crowd darling Perez. The Mexican had looked very racy early on, running as high as sixth, but Force India’s decision not to pit him for fresh rubber under the safety car - which virtually everyone else did - cost him his chance of finishing higher.

Verstappen was also quick early on, running as high as third during the first pit stops, but fell back to his eventual ninth place finish ahead of Grosjean, who led team mate Maldonado across the finish line by a scant 0.8s to claim the final point. The Venezuelan was lucky to finish after running very wide entering the stadium on the 64th lap and nearly hitting the wall.

Marcus Ericsson brought his Sauber home 12th after passing Carlos Sainz’s Toro Rosso near the end, while Button took an unhappy 14th after being a sitting duck on the long straights. It was a bad race for McLaren, as Fernando Alonso was the first retirement after losing power on the opening lap.

The safety car also gave Alexander Rossi a second chance after he’d lost ground to Marussia team mate Will Stevens but was able to move back ahead in the closing stages.

Besides Alonso, Raikkonen and Vettel, the other non-finisher was Felipe Nasr, whose Sauber ran out of brakes shortly after the restart.

Overall the first Mexican Grand Prix of the 21st century was adjudged to have been a major success, and the enthusiastic and knowledgeable crowd loved every second of it.

Haven't seen it yet, although now I know how it turned out I may not bother, I'm a little disgusted with F1 and MotoGP at the moment.

I am still here to read/make comments but not bothered to watch any replays, if they exist.
However I bet the Mercedes boss told Hamilton to let Rosberg have a go (but make it look exciting so it is not too obvious) so he can beat Vettel in points and become second for the season, but I guess he doesn't have to bother now that Vettel stuffed up.

I checked there are only two more races left. Brasil should be a win for Rosberg too, as a point buffer unless his car breaks and the final for Hamilton unless Rosberg's car did break in Brasil.

So I just made it a little more exciting for myself to see if I am right

Independent F1 engine 'crucial', says Red Bull Racing boss Horner

Christian Horner believes the power unit plight of Red Bull and Toro Rosso highlights the need for an independent engine manufacturer in Formula 1.
Red Bull and Toro Rosso are currently both without an engine supply for 2016 after opting to split with Renault a year ahead of schedule.
In Red Bull's case, after failing to land a deal with Mercedes or Ferrari, and with Honda "very keen" to supply but , Horner's options are severely limited.
The FIA's for 2017 comes too late to save Red Bull for next year, but is welcomed by team principal Horner regardless.

"It's crucial because we're demonstrating quite clearly there is no regulation that dictates that engine suppliers have to supply, let alone at a competitive price," said Horner.
"So an independent engine, for the future of Formula 1, for us it's a no-brainer.
"If you can't get engines elsewhere then you can't race, so it's important to have a competitive, economical engine, and if it can't be the current engine, then there needs to be another engine.
"Jean Todt [FIA president] has taken the situation very seriously, and he's said very clearly what his plans are."
The concern is while Todt and F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone will join forces at the next Strategy Group meeting to vote through the prospect of an independent engine, the plan will then fall at the next hurdle of the F1 Commission.
Horner feels if the other teams had any sense they will also vote in favour given the cost savings they are likely to make per year of around €12-14million.
"I'm sure if there's enough willingness, and there are enough teams struggling financially - if you can take 20 million out of your engine/chassis budget it's a no-brainer," added Horner.
Suggested to Horner the majority of the customer teams had supply contracts with the manufacturers beyond 2017, he replied: "Maybe they won't be here in 2017 if the current prices stay the same.
"That's a decision for those individual teams to make.
"But when they've been complaining about price and cost, the first thing that comes along that offers a significant reduction, I'd be amazed if teams didn't snap it up."
As far as Horner is concerned, any budget engine has to be competitive enough to compete alongside the current 1.6-litre V6 turbocharged hybrids.
"Jean has two problems: one is the cost of supply, and two is the willingness to supply," remarked Horner.
"Within the current regulations you can't force manufacturers to supply so there has to be an alternative, but that alternative also has to be competitive."
As to the prospects of Red Bull taking a year out and returning in 2017 if an independent engine was available, Horner said: "That would be enormously unlikely."

Budget engine? Back to the V8 normally aspirated, only way I can see this work, but allowing teams to use their previous turbos if they like.

So does that mean they're talking about the whole field using a "control" engine, ie the same engine for everybody?

Well I think that is part or whole of the intent, however as it is still being nutted out, who knows?

What would be best IMO is an independent engine that can be purchased & modified, at discretion of the rules, as well as allowing the Factory (Merc, Renault, Honda, etc) engines if they can be sourced & want to pay for them.

    yep here it is,

Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton owns up to car accident in Monaco

    Last updated 09:36, November 13 2015

    LEWIS HAMILTON/INSTAGRAM
Lewis Hamilton may have won three world titles, but he has a patchy record behind the wheel away from the track.

Resources expert reveals 10 mining stocks set to boom next year

In a bid to prevent people from making a "quick buck" out of a minor driving accident, Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton has revealed he was involved in a car accident in Monaco on Monday.
The F1 champion was driving his £1.5 million (NZ$3.5m) Zonda supercar in the early hours of Monday morning when he hit the parked car.
Hamilton delayed his flight to Sao Paulo for the Brazilian Grand Prix by a day this week, with his Mercedes team saying he was unwell.

The driver later changed the story, however, coming clean over the incident with a post on Instagram.
"Dear TeamLH, just wanted to let you know why things have been quiet on social media the past few days," Hamilton said in the post.

"I've not been well with a fever but I also had a road accident in Monaco on Monday night.

"Whilst ultimately, it is nobody's business, there are people knowing my position that will try to take advantage of the situation and make a quick buck.

"NO problem. Nobody was hurt, which is the most important thing.

"But the car was obviously damaged and I made very light contact with a stationary vehicle."

Hamilton said he had decided to rest at home and leave a day later than scheduled after consulting with his team and doctor.

"But I am feeling better and am currently boarding the plane to Brazil," he added.

"However, I am informing you because I feel we all must take responsibility for our actions. Mistakes happen to us all but what's important is that we learn from them and grow. Can't wait for the weekend Brazil."

Hamilton clinched his third world title in Texas last month with three races to spare but has a patchy record behind the wheel when away from the race track.

He was banned from driving in France in 2007 and had his car impounded after being caught driving at 40 miles per hour above the speed-limit on a motorway northeast of Paris.

He was also booked for reckless driving during the 2010 Australian Grand Prix after police saw him spinning the wheels of his car near Melbourne's Albert Park street circuit.

Allen Jones take in it was a pisser, said Lewis must have dropped something in the car, then lent over to pick it up, where his gold chain got hooked up on the gear stick and he couldn't get back up... Bahahahaah

Well I watched most of the race, but fell asleep, it was f$%king boring, missus told me not to bother as nothing changed.
Merc 1 - 2, who'd of guessed. The Merc team wouldn't even let Hamilton try a different strategy to attempt an undercut???? The radio conversation was weird??

Nico Rosberg insists Mercedes are right to keep both drivers on the same strategy in races because it ensures he and Lewis Hamilton can fight head to head and on a completely equal footing.

Oh crap what a load of shit.

    First see above:

Then read & see the bullshit:

Toto Wolff Q&A: Mercedes, not drivers, must decide strategy

LEWIS HAMILTON MERCEDES BRAZIL NICO ROSBERG
    15 Nov 2015 Share
Mercedes' strategy calls became an unintentional talking point in Brazil, as Lewis Hamilton appealed for tactical freedom in a bid to take the fight to team mate Nico Rosberg. Mercedes-Benz's head of motorsport Toto Wolff says the team won't relinquish control however - particularly as Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel are close enough to capitalise if the gamble backfires...

Final race at Abu Dhabi, not a bad race strategy & overtaking(racing) wise, same result as usual though.
    Merc 1-2.

Also rumour has it that the generic engine is off the cards for the moment & Red Bull are going to be running Renault again next year?

They said that the vote by the teams was unanimous against a generic engine and I have to agree, as far as I'm concerned one of the main goals of F1 is to push the envelope and develop new technologies that people otherwise may not want to fund the research for, and locking down hybrid engine development goes completely against that ethos.

But yeah apparently RBR has signed a one-year deal for Renault to supply engines except they won't be badged as Renault engines (whatever that means).

After that they have supposedly done a deal for the Honda engine but this seems like six of one, half a dozen of the other to me, current Honda powered cars (Alonso and Button) seem worse-off than frog-power at the moment?

We can only hope that Ricciardo might be able to secure a better ride for himself by then?

Now if Kimi suddenly gets bored and retires and Ricciardo hops into a red car next to Vettel, then I WILL be interested to watch F1 again.
Then we will find out who can speak better Italian

    Bahaha, that would be interesting.

Now; Kimi bored?? How would you tell?
You should have seen him on the podium & when interviewed by DC he was so excited you would swear that he had just had a tooth pulled out.
