Default ulimtate memory stick, just a standard MS with files right?

Just a quick question regarding the ultimate memory stick kit thingie that lets you make a pandoras battery and magic stick to down/up-grade your PSP phat/slim.

Its just a standard memory stick with files on it right? No funny things hidden and written directly to the memory stick, right?

Jus wanted to know if I were to backup the stick and stick it onto another memory stick if I would encounter any problems or not.

Its the stick plus the combination of the software written directly to the battery.

they change the serial number of the eeprom in the battery via i2c or pcb modification to make it a pandora/jigkick

and the memory stick is just a normal Memory Stick Pro Duo - although they specify that you need to use less than 4 gig sized cards

512mb to 1gb is best really
also better off to buy a pandora battery than to make one , if you stuff up it makes it more expensive anyway , plus buying one is simpler and it is ready to go , minus the charging and the mem stick off course

my word of advice is get a GENUINE memory stick(of about 512MB) if you plan on doing this, you NEED reliability!

give me a holler if you need help with making one.

Myself and ozchips have made a heap of these nice memory sticks using 512mb SANDISK sticks and they have all worked 100%.

Give me a yell made and i will flick you down the file to make the stick, its an autoinstaller so it works well and is a piece of piss to deploy.

If anyone wants it just give me a yell and i will upload to megaupload or some other place so you can all get a copy

thanks for the offers guys. I've got it all setup on my 4gb sandisk ultra II and the pandora battery from my original phat psp.

had a hell of a time looking for detailed instructions as what i need to do to install the custom firmware ... while I was looking I stuffed around with what I had and ended up with 3.72 m33-2 ...was more straight forward than I thought.

anyways, I wanted to backup the files incase I needed it later and couldnt remember which installer I grabbed this from and thought it might be easier to just back it up and put it back onto a memory stick when/if i need it. wasnt sure if there was any funny business with the files and what not so I wanted to double check before I did it.

Thanks friend will do, I'm having trouble with a TOOL battery, just asking ozchips for a few tips. Could be the battery is F$#cked bought it off EBay.
Oh woe is me, hopefully Ian will shed some light on my plight.

P.S I can see why there called a TOOL battery, I feel like one!

most of the PSP batteries you buy off ebay does not work as the pandora's battery (or TOOL battery). you will need a genuine or proper PSP battery not one of the cheapies.

That said, if the battery is sold as a TOOL battery then it should be what you need and just work.

I think the difference between a standard battery and the pandora's battery is the serial number. If its got FFFFFFF as the serial number then the PSP will just boot up and load the stuff off the memory stick... or something like that.

if you have access to a fat PSP running custom firmware then you can make your battery a pandora's battery. kinda hard to do when you dont have access to on.

Hard's the word. I have three psp none of them with custom firmware thats was the hole reason of getting this TOOL battery. (Kids never Happy)
It did flash up on the screen some gibberish at first but now nothing. I think Ozchips is right on the money. The battery is dead flat and I cant charge it.
I might just get an genuine battery and start from scratch.

I put the battery into a PSP the light comes on, a sort of orangy/red. Within three minutes the light goes green.

I have then taken out the TOOL battery, disconnected the power supply,
then reinserted ac power without battery fired up unit, replaced TOOL
battery into machine, then gone into system settings looked at battery
    information, I then see this.

    Charge level 0%
    Hours left-
    Power source External
    Battery Status Charging

On the top right hand corner the battery icon flashes with one bar in it.

After three minutes. Green light comes on

    Charge level 0%
    Hours left-
    Power source External
    Battery Status Charge complete!

The battery icon is empty and has stopped flashing.

Yes I'll try but as I have left postive feedback the chances of a replacement will be slim to none.

is the battery setup as a pandora yet?
If it is you can use it to boot up(with charger connected), swap battery as soon as you see the mem stick light come on(with a known good battery) and you should be able to do the downgrade.

I did it this way until I got a new battery and it works a treat!!!

Naive? YES. A TOOL for a TOOL! (I bought the perfect item)
It's ok I always flame myself, I'll get over it.

I'm just glad there are people out there who are very tolerant.
