    Smile Which GPS?

    Hi Guys,

just after a bit of help. I have $300 to spend on a GPS. I would like to use it for Car Navigation, for Geocaching and also use it for fishing on a boat and input gps locations. Also one that can be updated / modified, and use different software.

I hope that is not too broad.

    Regards

    Dan

If you need ocean maps, your only real choice is a garmin unit.

    Get a PDA GPS.

    Then load the required software.
I use an older Mio 168, to do car and geocaching...
    Tomtom/Igo 8 for car...copilot live for geocaching

Your best bet would be some thing like a trakmate For about $180
It is able to be updated and can run other software ,I've got TT7 and iGO8 on one.
It has a bread crumb track marker for bush walking that with a bit of ingenuity could be used out in the bay but I wouldnt be going too far out to sea with it or you could land up in the land of

    Oceans

Coastlines , deep and shallow sections of water , dangerous obstacles etc. You can also mark any good fishing spot you find for next time.

Depends on the brand as they all vary but basically whats on an admiralty map.
Depth contours, channel markers, buoys, Reefs, Tidal info, nav markers, local nav conditions, port boundaries. etc etc.
