Just wondering what problem you ran into with your M8?
Most of my Entertainment is plain old FTA Terrestrial TV.
While surfing the net on the laptop.
Paying little attention to either
I posted this here as it applies to several other sections of the site, but not one in particular. As well as general interest, I am interested so we can perhaps update/add/delete forums due to more/less interest in various methods.
Almost everyone watches TV or movies, and TV series, which have gained a lot of popularity lately.
How/where do you get and watch your content ? Do you simply watch FTA TV and rent a DVD ? Are you an online streamer ? If so, what do you stream and how ? A Foxtel fan ? let us know. Do you record and store it ? Please give too much, rather than not enough information on your viewing habits.
I have probably all of the above.
Foxtel - I generally have it on all day, but dont watch anything. Its sits on MusicMax running through a home theatre amp. Sometimes I might watch the A&E channel, but not much else. Occasionally the news channels if there is a major event, such as a terrorist attack (CNN, FOX News, BBC World, Aljazeera, SKY News Australia).
Roku - This is my main viewing at night from around 7PM onwards. Netflix, Hulu Plus, HBOGO, Showtime Anytime and USTVNOW are my main viewing choices. I watch a lot of US tv, which is streamed via Pennsylvania. Other than that, its movies and series TV.
M8 android reciever running Kodi (XBMC) - I have previously used this a lot, but ran in to a problem which I cant seem to fix. I am considering buying a Rasperry PI unit to try instead, such as this :
( I am not recommending this particular one, just an example). You can find almost anything on XBMC.
FTA TV - I only watch this in the morning from say 7-9 am and then at say 5.30 pm to 7pm.\
I no longer download/store/record/save anything.

If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
I have Foxtel on all the time, although I hardly ever watch it. I'd get rid of it but I am constantly out voted even though my vote counts double....
I download 90% of what I watch....a couple of series via EZTV and the like, but mostly documentaries. I don't stream anything. Most modern movies do nothing for me.
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.
WDTV for Netflix....about 20% of viewing
WDTV to watch downloads of latest TV eps and latest movies......about 80% of viewing
FTA TV...approx. 0% of viewing
I put all my downloads on my desktop computer that has 4 x 2TB HDD's and is ethernet connected through a router to the WDTV (internal wall/ceiling cabled)

Freezing up, generally being a pain to use in general. Some may of been network problems due to the modem I had at the time, some may have been a clone VU Duo. All networked, but the m8 just would not run right no matter what I did. One of those gremlins that you just cant fix.

I just use FTA TV. Really only watch Motorsport and News. I record it to Tivo and watch when it suits me.
Amazon Fire TV for Hulu, Netflix,A&E, History, ESPN,HBO, Showtime. Has Plex on it to play whats on my hard drive.
GIGABYTE Brix for Foxtel and accessing
WDTV set up for BBC iPlayer but really used.
M8 but hardly use it now.
Foxtel in main room
Ouya in main room with Kodi. Works flawlessly at the moment.
Tivo in bedroom. Best set top box ever made in my opinion.
WDTV in bedroom for bbc and movies.
ATV3 which now lives in daughters room for netflix Hulu and anything on her iPhone/iPad/MacBook Air.
And if I watch more than half an hour a day (excluding footy/cricket) it must be something special.
Forgot motorised cband and kuband dishes and ultraplus. And a nokia 1320 which is my favourite mobile.

no foxtel as I got rid if it 15months ago and save heaps
download and store via with a Qnap 8 bay rack mount holds 24Tb - mostly movies, Tv series, doco's but have a heap of tutorials and all my music
house is hard wired networked and watch via smart tv's, apple tv, android boxes
stream via XBMC from various sites - but not very good so i need to learn more
Roku for Netflix, hulu, BBC iplayer - tried HBO but couldn't work out how to get it, if someone could give a hint please PM me
FTA tv for local content and VAST
various sat stuff either on KU via 3 x 1.2m dishes and C-band via 3m mesh
Mostly Foxtel, mostly motorsport which i prefer to watch live if I can or I record when not able to; + movies, crime shows, documentaries & music concerts, mostly recorded & watched when I feel like it.
Recorded to Foxtel (currently MyStarHD) box.
Still waiting for the iQ3, if not soon I'll be ditching the MystarHD for an iQ2.
Was using VAST decoders for FTA, mostly for the motorsport that I couldn't get on Fox, now they are basically doorstops.
Did use them for the Cyclone coverage though, so I'll hang on to them for a while yet.
The UEC 4121 with external HDD & UEC 4639 with inbuilt HDD do a reasonable job.
They rate on about the same level as a MyStar HD box, which is really when you boil it down a POS.
Downloading is possible but not feasible due to NBN interim satellite Broadband quotas & costs, streaming not possible ATM due to Sat BB traffic jams.
EDIT; Forgot to mention I watch youtubes occasionally, that are recomended or posted on forums, mostly on my lappy or PC, rarely via the smart TV (you guessed it - Sat BB traffic jams)

I too no longer download/store/record/save anything ........
I Like the UK Filmon Expat service. I paticularly like the Documentaries ..... Channel 4, I think make the best documentaries in the world, & they have so many of them ...... & much of the content will never be available in Australia, (they make the BBC look only average), channnel 4 is also home of Grand Designs, George Clarks Amazing Spaces, etc, etc, etc ..... & you see them first here
ITV4 recently run the complete 3 Series of "Alias Smith & Jones" a western TV show which was one of my favourites in the Early 1970's, (also not available anywhere in Australia) also sentimental comedy favourites like "Man about the house" & "George & Mildred", etc, etc. ....
I also like the US Expat service USTVNOW ..... I particularly like (same as with the above UK Expat Service) seeing the day to day lives of what people experience from their TV in their location ....... its like being there on holiday ....... seeing the recent record breaking Low temperatures in Harrisburg, & all the Snow & Ice at this time of the year etc ..... you also see the latest ABC, CBS, & NBC shows first .... some of which will not be shown on FTA here & will only be shown on Foxtel some months later .....
Foxtel is also on here most of the time & I am constantly channel surfing, Foxtel also have quite a Few of the TV shows that I like from the UK & from the US ..... so I watch them again ..... & I don't feel guilty because Foxtel get their "rights" money to broadcast it in Australia (from my subscription) .... if I have seen it first on an overseas channel.
I also watch FTA television here for its local content ...... & depending on what shows they are showing or what movies they have programmed to be shown ..... local FTA television will always be important .....
I am also particularly liking the FTA Catch up services at the moment ....... watch the show I want when I want to .....
I will subscribe to Stan & Presto as well & hopefully they will have some good content & a good quality streaming experience (I will have to decide between Presto & Foxtel Go Services ...... & the impending IQ3 if it is worth it or not)
I Love Netflix ..... so much content ... when you want it ...... & I will be keeping it
I also Have HuluPlus...... it provides content so quicky after broadcast ..... & on demand .....when you want it
I also Like Vudu ..... I can buy a movie & watch it as many times as I like & it is stored in the cloud forever ..... they also have for rent movies & Tv shows in SD, HD, & HDX resolution quality
Netflix, HuluPlus, & Vudu, stream perfectly and give a High quality streaming viewing experience,
I also like to try new technologies ..... so much fun
Obviously I cannot do all the above all at once ..... so I just choose what to use at the time ....... having a huge variety of choice is important to me
It is also important to me that the right holders get paid ..... as they should ..... & I think to myself surely if the right holders get paid (though my subscriptions) ... they should not mind if I see it first on another channel ... because they will be the ones showing it eventually ....
What is a concern is that there is so much content that is not available in Australia, or is delayed on Australian Providers

I actually download/store/record/save everything I watch, mostly Youtube stuff.
I store it on a 2tb ext hd and watch it using the Gom player on a PC connected to the TV.
Don't watch any Foxtel or DVD... any FTA stuff I see is at work during breaks etc.
No Foxtel. (for a very long time)
All my Tv's are internet capable so no more use for the Roku and WD's. (except for 1 tv which will be the first to be replaced)
I watch FTA and Netflix, also the TV's have Youtube where i can watch docos or play music if im in the mood.
I have a Twin tuner recoreder/blue ray player where i might record something on FTA to watch later.
I dont need to record Youtube or Netflix as its all on demand.
Generally i will check FTA first for anything interesting, then go to netflix to see if there is anything that interests me and when that fails, ill pick a topic on youtube and then watch that.

Most of our media is played on an original xbox halo edition modded with a 2tb hdd, for online content i use the aldi cocoon android player.
Download and watch whatever I am after. Have a full 1TB drive for movies and stuff and numerous smaller drives all connected to the media server (PC) in the lounge room. SWMBO has Foxtel in her room as it has the stuff that she likes and another computer with 1TB drive connected to her TV and the network so we can watch what we want wherever there is a computer. Tried streaming but spend more time buffering than watching. My main viewing is FTA news and some late night stuff like cops or pawn stars, always with a laptop on so not really paying attention to anything.
Just did a Speed Test and it has improved . Had Telstra fix a line fault this morning as I managed to scrape the cable cleaning up some weeds, (it was 1mm below the surface!)
usenet for movies (exodos tonight)
pc all day
3 fox boxes, fox in bed if im too pissed to watch movies or theres no decent 0nes out

I have a liking for British drama, documentaries, music and comedy, so I download TV shows from the BBC and ITV websites.
Occasionally I will also watch material available from U.K. Channel 4.
To overcome the geo-blocking imposed by U.K. sites, I use Unblockus, which allows me to appear as if I'm in the U.K.
Programs are downloaded and saved to hard drives (approx. 5TB total capacity) for later viewing using programs called Get_iplayer (Windows) and Get iplayer Automator (Macintosh) .
Torrents are used to obtain what I have missed and consequently isn't currently available on the websites named above.
Having a distinct aversion to most of the drivel shown on Australian commercial television, I watch ABC and SBS for local/world news, current affairs, drama etc.
Youtube has proved to be an invaluable source for my preference in music (baroque and other classical as well as traditional jazz).
XBMC running on an Android-based IPTV box (obtained via Aliexpress several years ago) currently provides access to Ireland's RTE and TG4 channels for music and other programming.
