    Smile Medion MD82999

Would anyone know how to unlock region code for the new Aldi sold DVD recorder/360g HDD Medion MD82999? or where to look for it? Medion Tech. Support say it can't be done. Cheers.

    Medion Tech Support is wrong.
I have just tested this and it worked.

    1. push SETUP
    2. move down to menu point EXIT
    3. type 2960
    4. The region menu appears
    5. Select Region Free
    6. leave the menu by pushing SETUP

    Enjoy

    Default User reviews??

    G'day all,

To those who own one of these Medion machines - what do you think of them? I want a cheap DVD/HDD recorder, and this appears to fit the bill. Are they any good? reasonably reliable? Build quality etc? I know they're cheap, but does it really show??

    Your thoughts gratefully appreciated!

They work very well carwash, they are reliable and the menu is reasonably good too. If you had to complain about anything its that they have an analogue tuner. We use it as a PVR and the wife loves it.

    G'day
I have tried the above, and I did change to region free, but the DVDs are still not working?? These are actually DVDs I rented from the local DVD shop. Other DVDs do work, but not all. Even some DVDs that I created on the Medion itself cannot be read. Yet, when I try the same DVDs on another player, they work fine. Do not know what's going on. Any ideas / suggestion. The Medion help was not able to suggest anything.
    Thanks Aboabdo

    Question Medion MD84100

    Thanks all for responses.

I went for the MD84100 model in the end, mainly as it has USB and I have a HDD camcorder. However, I haven't yet managed to get the Medion unit to recognise the JVC camcorder's files .MOV I think.

Also, anyone know the region unlock sequence for this unit? It isn't the same as the one above, the SETUP menu doesn't offer an EXIT option as there is a 'EXIT/RETURN' button on the remote.

    Any help gratefully received!

Found the hack - pasted below...

It appear the software on this recorder is a copy of the LG RH1999h write down to the LG remote working with this recorder. I have used the hack for the RH1999h on my medion md84100 and it worked perfectly.

    Press 'setup' on the remote
Scroll down to the 'lock' icon
Press 0 seven times - you'll get onscreen confirmation

Still looking for file format answer if anyone can help!!

    Hi Carwash,

I know this sounds odd but you may have to download your camera to your PC, then convert the format then attach to your DVD recorder. There are numerous progs that can convert for you.
