Swann DVR4-NET connection
I couple of issues with this one which I can't figure out...
First of all I was given this unit, it had a corrupt HDD, so I swapped it out for another one, which I think has created a problem, but I can't tell because I don't have a video monitor to plug into it, but in it's last setup they just used it online with no monitor.
So basically I'm flying blind trying to figure out how to make it work, I can't seem to connect it via the network, I don't know if I have to run some format utility on the HDD, and without connection I can't find out.
When I connect it it doesn't show as visable on the network, I tried connecting direct to the IP it should of been on but it failed.
I'm not too good with network stuff, so any help is appreciated and try and keep the big words to a minimum
Details:
OS: Win7
Modem/Router: Netgear DGN3500

a lot of DVR/NVRs will not output on the LAN until the drive in formatted and running. I can't think of any other way except connecting a monitor and running through the menu and formatting the drive and checking LAN setup etc.
In fact it would be an utter waste of time trying anything else.
That's sort of what I was thinking
Thanks for the help
okay sorted most of the issues...
A: I wasn't using the correct power supply, needed to be a 12v / 3amp to run the HDD
B: the original HDD was corrupt and I mixed the new and the old one up
C: I found a BNC to AV cable in my junk cable box so now I can hook it up to the TV!
D: It works! although the fan is crazy loud, not the sort of thing I want running 24/7 in the living room... or any room for that matter, I'll have to replace that.
Also it doesn't have any motion detection, so it just records 24/7, which is a bit annoying, but free is better than nothing.
