Default How do they still get away with it?

I was just speaking to a customer who pays $30/month for 200mb traffic. I mean, WTF? How do telstra even have customers anymore? Or am I mistaken and it's actually 2003?

    lucky I wasn't with them when I doing 200+gb a month.

What makes me laugh is that telstra is not providing voip, so their customers are getting away.
My purpose in life is to get as many ppl away from tel$tra and on to voip.
So if I disappear you all know what has happened.

die tel$tra ( you can not blatantly root ppl forever )

Yeah everyone in Australia get ripped hard by the Telcos. A friend of mine live in an Apartment in Tokyo its pretty standard to get free unlimited fibre optic with each unit in the block.

I'm a Bigpond customer. Why? Because Telstra owns the telephone lines....... I'll let that sink in and wait for the WTF. I'm a Bigpond cable customer, purely for the fact that I'm stuck behind a Remote Intergrated Multiplexer which Telstra refuse to upgrade (they claim they have, but they never did, the TIO proved this for me). Thus I have a whopping great choice of Bigpond Cable or dialup.

I'm not on the $30/month plan, I agree thats a stupid plan, actually Telstra call that their trap plan, to get customers in early and then move them to higher cost plans. Then again if you are with Bigpond I would suggest getting the Liberty plans, the last billing day is a nice day to have bigpond
Coding in C is like sending a 3 year old to do groceries. You gotta tell them exactly what you want or you'll end up with a cupboard full of pop tarts and pancake mix.

For me, $109 per month 3GB including uploads. Why? Cos telstra is the only one with 3G coverage where I live so they can screw me up against the wall. I'm assuming your mate's on 3G too and can only afford the $30 per month plan.

I can go dial up, was on Isdn but that's no longer being offered by telstra...pay for 3G or dial up or satellite...and I cop .15c per meg over 3G, and 1G=1000MB according to telstra too.

As soon as someone else has 3G coverage here they're gone.

The sad thing is there are lots of people who simply don’t understand and go for Telstra because it’s a brand they know and marketing.

I tried hard to convince a friend NOT to go with them for the 200 MB broadband but she still did – She said but they give me the first six months half price. I just rolled my eyes and gave up. Then a few months later she calls me to say it’s costing her a fortune in excess usage charges. Could I pop around and setup a filter to stop some guy sending her joke of the day etc as it must be these emails bumping up her bill.

In the end she is committed to a 24 month contract so her cheap broadband plan has now been upgraded to a more expensive plan to avoid excess charges. End result she’s paying top dollar for very little download ability as compared to what other ISP’s offer for the same money.

I’ve been told the fix is in with Telstra and the Rudd government so even with the new fibre network or whatever Australia will still be an Internet backwater in terms of value for money.

What this country needs is for people to band together and create their own network. Like a giant wireless relay, right across the country.

My computer links to next door, links to next door, etc etc..

Eventually we are all linked together and sharing one unlimited connection..

Sounds silly, but that is how the internet works, just done with wires at the moment. Eventually I reckon it will become one great big fkn giant wireless relay system, with community nodes like a mobile phone tower supplying the area with a link to other nodes.

Each individual has an antenna on the roof that gets it's own service, which also relays data to and from everyone else.

    It'd work real bloody well!

As for telstra. They rely on people who simply don't know there are other options, and then gobble them up with a 2 year contract when everyone else offers 6 months or none at all.

Like the NRMA ad says "Join the 1.5million aussies who *look no further* than NRMA for their insurance.." People simply don't believe there are other companies that can offer the same thing as NRMA, so they just sign up and keep paying.

    They do "look no further"

Someone should put an AD on tv for Whirlpool's Broadband Choice.
