Haven't had any experience with MUK files, however a little research tells me they are a locked format file for use with karaoke players.
The MUK is short for Multak .
These people appear to be on the path to solving the format.
Hi I got a Karaoke Player and I am trying to add some karaoke songs into that. The manual says to copy files of MUK format. Not sure if I can find ant MUK files on the web for free just to test run or if there is a way to create a MUK file.
Any ideas please...

The information is out there; you just have to let it in."
seems to be very informative. i should take time to read this discussion.let me see how it goes, now I have an idea as what the MUK file is.
bTW i see that you are from Tasmania so as me. Where about?
All of the Karaoke files I have are CDG files paired with an MP3 file.
ie:
Song 1.mp3
Song 1.cdg
This is handy if you can convert them.
Find the song you like, play it using the youtube link in bottom right, and use YTD Video Downloader to grab them
I had a quick google around, and it appears there are a number of different players etc for karaoke.
Perhaps a mob/forum like this could assist you?
edit.
On my visits I also saw the Audacity program mentioned a lot as well.
