Mr Google has pointed me to that file.
There is a specific set of 'tools' for that receiver to enable what you seek. The file you mentioned is just part of the puzzle - Google god will provide if you search long enough - try other forums too.

I must admit with the firmware on my Strong, I have a persistent lip syncing problem on quite a few channels. If I turn it off and on again, it seems to fix it but then it creeps in again. It also does it when playing back a recorded program on a USB stick. Think the chip-set is not quite up to the job.

    Hi Guys,
Am using SRT4950H and just loaded firmware V 3.34 but can not find patch in it. What is he latest V with patch for PwVU. I have travelled the WWW. Strong doesn't show it in their down load area.
    Any pointers appreciated.
    Cheers

V 3.34 sounds like factory software.

You need specially patched software, which you will not find on any Strong site for fairly obvious reasons.

I don't see any on the wizkid website, so I suggest that you'll have to look further.

Try some of the forums mentioned at the start of the thread.

I have seen mention of V3.39P_27112015_POWERVU in my travels, but haven't investigated as I don't have that model.

Ahah! Here you are. Didn't take long to find at wizkid's other site

There's also 3.43P and 3.46P available for download.

The site is very slow to access, but persevere and you will succeed.

Intelsat 8 169.0°E channels mentioned earlier in this thread are alive with US programs for anyone interested.

Will check 3960 for you tonight.

No problems here with 3829H and V1.81p. Can see all programs on that MUX.
    Perhaps a key issue.

Fixed. Keys were correct so I deleted tp 3830 replaced both key id and transponder with 3829 and voila!

Talk about finicky, I only used 3830 because that was the id used on all key packages I've found.

    Thanks VK4!

On the SRT4930, following a blind scan you will see the muxes that the receiver has found.

Here's the interesting part, the TP might actually be on 3829H, but your receiver might show it as lets say, 3831H.
This might be because either your LNB and/or receiver is 2 MHz off.
If your receiver shows the TP as 3831H in the listing following a blind scan, then you need to make sure that the key ID matches that, so your key ID in the receiver will be 03831, not the "actual" 03829.

The actual frequency "error" is not relevant, so long as everything matches up.

If you do that on ALL entries, and your keys are correct, you'll get it every time.

I figured that too, but oddly, tp 3830 simply would not open with key id 3830

Is there a way to import the keys instead of typing in the keys for every channel after entering 8282 menu. I have seen for other receivers Softcam.Key can be edited in PC & uploaded

As far as I know, no, key data has to be manually entered into the 4930 as there's no facility to import from USB or network/internet connection.

It's a tad tedious, but once done, sit back and enjoy.

I went away for a months gold detecting and upon returning I was unable to update/view any Disco powervu channels. Do keys now roll too quickly for updates?

They do need to be updated from time to time.

Check and others (use a search engine).

Sometimes a particular network will use similar keys across several satellites, so if your particular satellite of interest isn't listed try keys for another satellite of the same network.
