    Default Tas. Quad-Drone Race meeting.

    Hi all, got this invite on another forum, since it looks like the giveaway this month will be a Quad, some Tas members may be interested to have a look at some fast pilots.

    "ATTENTION TASMANIAN QUAD PILOTS:

    OPEN AIR RACE ----- OPEN INVITE

    That's right, we have a 4 race-day series about to happen over the coming months! In an open field! and we will be legal!

    WHEN: Sunday 10/5/15 17/5/15, from 10am. (racing starts at 11am)

    WHERE: South of Lauderdale -
    link fixed thanks to Tas sky pirates

    WHO: YOU! and any one you would like to bring along.

    HOW MUCH: Nothing. free. your welcome.

    Race schedule will be released as we get closer, but anticipate it will be a number of heats.
    Roughly:

    10-11am -> General course practice.
    11am-1pm -> race heats
    1pm onwards -> general flying

    Please note: I will be releasing a rule "book" in the coming days. please don't stress too much. it will be simple dot points, and hopefully a simple A4 page. nothing more than you would expect on any flying day with any flying group of people: safe operation.

    This will be a racing pennant, over several separate racing events.

    The winner will not only win a prize (imagine a few packs of props, a few other bits and pieces) but will also receive the title "Tasmanian FPV Racing King".... you cant get better bragging rights than that!

    As we get closer to the event, I will ask people to register their name and VTX type with me, so we can properly allocate channels in the days before.

    Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns or ideas.
    Thank you! "

    Please note; Contact is via RC Groups member Tas sky pirates's.

    This wont be the first such event I would think as Drones for me are far more interesting than other forms of model flying and possibly less demanding to operate and costly to repair when crashed as it will when a person is learning.

    Tiny, they know where they are so no fuss with the address, hahahahaha.
    I have seen that on TV adverts for firms who give no location and only give a mobile number which doesnt help when your TV ads cover several hundred square miles of the State.

    Well; still no address or reply from this mob, so if you are keen to go to Lauderdale, then ring Chris on his mobile 0409027761

    EDIT; Got a reply & you wouldn't believe it, no address, so it must be very rural!
    It has been postponed till next weekend the 17th May.

    See next post.

    Air space to use these Quad Copters could be an issue when flying over populated areas so their choice of location makes sense to be somewhere rural to avoid any problems.
    They could however been a little bit more informative as to their general location even if it was to say their located near a Road Junction or known Geographical Landmark for you to decide if its within a reasonable distance to travel to before ringing to find exactly where it is.

    Sorry, I know its not intended to be read this way but I like the last line where it says 'Ring, and He'll tell you where to go'.............

    Default Tas Quad Racing

    Hey guys,
    sorry its hard to know how many forums people operate over.
    generally we do most of our organising on the FPV Tasmania facebook page.
    or, you can visit our webpage

    the race is being held at the MAAA flying field located here:

    YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A MEMBER.
    the idea behind this arrangement we have, is to see if our groups can work well together. historically not many people have wanted to join MAAA clubs due to politics. we are all pretty laid back, and these guys are giving us a 4x race trial.

    contact me if you are interested in coming along or knowing more. we have had to delay due to bad weather, but we will be racing next sunday (17/5/15).

    if you would like, just email me on tiffa20@hotmail.com
    i dont often check random forums, let alone rcgroups, so its easier if you contact me by email.

    regards,
    Chris Ballard
