Xp Wont Shut Down Restarts
Can any one help with this problem XP will not shut down , when I go to close, it re-starts. Have been thru CMOS Settings, have pulled out fans and cleaned and it is in a well ventilated area

It could be a failure in a critical component and XP is set to reboot on critical failures.
Go to the Control Panel and double click on System and then the Advanced Tab and click on Settings in Startup and Recovery. Deselect Automatic Restart.
Now when you Shutdown see if a message comes up that may be a clue to the source of the restart.
Common problems are with the old version Roxio Easy CD Creator, Wake On LAN being set and some USB devices often mice or keyboards with added features.
