    Default lcd monitor backlights

I've got 3 faulty HP1702 17" lcd monitors, all have backlight issues, the ccfl tubes are flickering etc. the inverters are OK.
can any one help me find a source for ccfl lamps in Melbourne?

    yes, it's a lost cause.
The good part is that you now have something that's worth exprimenting with.

I'm waiting for flat screens to appear on the street for chuck out day.
Best way to get an education.

I have an LCD projector. At the moment it is pointless paying half the cost of the device just to fix the lamp, so experiments with other light sources are half the fun.

dash, do the flouro flicker even when taken off the silicom sheet that makes up the screen, as sometimes the cables to the flouro short out against the metal frame work causing it to shut down, therefore if you dismantle the lcd and the flouros dont flicker then have a good look for cracks in the insulation of the wires.

go see the warranty agent for samsung, philips, lg, in you area and ask if they're throwing any away and if you can grab the flouros out of them
When I explained to the guy what avatar I wanted, that wasn't what I meant!

Even out of the units, the lamps go pinkie/red and then switch off.
FYI the GO company in QLD. have them in their catalogue 2X different lengths for about $11 each.
