Default 1:5 rockcrawler stripping servo horns?

I got a 1:5 scale rc crawler for the young bloke and it keeps stripping the servo horns not the servo itself. I know why this is happening because mr5 year old only knows all the way left or all the way right even when up against objects, so the servo is nearly allways underload and then eventually stripping the gears. but how does one prevent this apart from practice and knowledge of rc? I did get I from ebay and there are some controller features but just typical 2 or 4 wheel steer and % for throttle and steer. if I limit the steer it takes the whole front yard to turn around its like a need a torque setting or something? any thoughts?

Have you tried upgrading the servo arm? The alloy ones seem to do the job, nicely, Ive also seen what they call a servo lock work well

You can also mod the servo arm by giving it a small cut, that way if it does slip it will avoid stripping the gear

maybe it's time to teach mr5 year old that if he keeps on doing it he won't have a rockcrawler
that or get him a quadbike

If your buying a new servo I recommend you buy a servo saver kit as well, you can buy them from most RC hobby shops, or ebay
I run one on my GTR LC Torana, ive hit the wheels a few times on the gutter but so far has held up well cosidering LOL, but unfortunately these components arent bullet proof even the expensive ones, but the main thing is mr5 is having fun
