Howto: Stream any video format to your DMxxxx without VLCF insatlled on the DM box
This minihowto will allow you to open most video formats on your DMxxxx set top box that are running the PLi Images (this howto written with PLi Iolite)
Files like .avi, .vob, .ts etc etc.
This howto does not require you to do anything to you DM box at all. You do not need VLC on your DM box at all however you do need the PC/MAC/Linux version installed on your PC. It is all done with your web browser from your PC/Notebook.
1. Open your web browser to your DMxxxx box. i.e.
2. On the left hand side of the screen click on the stream button and this image will appear
3. Now click on the settings button.
4. Now under the top section as shown below click on the edit button and change the Server IP address from the IP of your DM box to the address of your PC where you have the movies (you need to be on that PC to do this)
5. Now click on the browse button and select the movie you want to play.
6. Now you have selected the movie simply click on the FILE button (see it to the left of the file name you just selected?)
7. You will now see the download screen and the VLC will start with the file you chose. Now wait about 15 to 20 seconds and it will appear on your TV screen. As simple as this.
8. To stop it playing on your DM box / TV simply stop VLC and it will do back to your last TV channel.

Has anyone got it working on Gemini & VLC 0.8.6c.When i play the movie it does for 10 sections and the dreambox stops.You will have to use PLi on all your clones mate
are you using Vista by any chance. I tried this on my Vista desktop last night with no luck, ran for about 10 secs then died.. I am streaming it via Wifi on my XP laptop with no problems as we speak...
Vista with PLi Iolite works just fine ..
Ill give it another shot tonight Jonc, I am using helenite with VLC (0.8.6c) on each. The only thing different here is one OS is XP, the other is vista..

check you have the ports open in your vista firewall if you have it running although it should give you a warning message about the port being blocked (unless you turned this feature off)Leroy, Its the Vista PC I cant stream to the DM. weird man something this simple and it just doesnt work...
cant be that much of a total drop kick.
I disabled vista firewall, tried streaming to both gemini 4.2 and pli iolilte....doesnt started on the dm's but plays on the pc.
havent really got around to streaimng to the DM, played around with gemini and vlc frontend....was shonky.
Open VLC go to HELP and check out what version you are using?
As it says above, check what version of VLC you are using as it does not work with 0.8.6d
No idea if this works in any version of Gemini (never tried it as I use PLi images only) and only works 100% with PLi Iolite only (no other PLi image)
I couldn't get pics up with 086d only sound. I'm using 0.8.1 and have found that to work but it's a little bit flakey.

try 0.8.6a or b or c the rest you will as you have already found, will not work as shown above .. but this has been said already
