Default DIY electronic Fixture and Devices

    Morning All,

We're just about to commence a new build and I've a couple of ideas for devices to be installed that required fixed wiring but run from a low voltage source - problem is I've no idea of the legal implications of designing and installing something I've built myself...

So the first idea is for A/C zoning and Exhaust zones - due to the design of the house there is a couple of rooms (two toilets, WIR, laundry, and a bathroom) that don't have access to external ventilation, so I was think of installing a remotely mounted exhaust unit (remotely to reduce ambient noise) that has solenoids to direct the air flow depending on when each is required. To help with ventilation I was thinking of running the exhaust fan at say 10% all the time then 100% when specific air flow is required ie when shower is running.

So far I have built everything, touch switches for control, fan speed controllers etc and the solenoid housings for test purposes but now I'm unsure if I am legally allowed to have it installed.

I have also started on dimmable LED lighting using a similar switch - all controlled and driven off less than 30V (except for the PSU) Again am I allowed to install such a device??

If every device is low voltage, go for it. If you are switching on and off mains devices, the relay or other interface must comply with the necessary regulations and the Mains wiring carried out by you friendly (Cough) electrician.
