    Default C&K 2316i

Can somebody PM me the instructions for defaulting a 2316i?

I was told by Honeywell that you can't use a default chip in these (yes they told me how to default it but I dodn't right it down )

I will be doing it tomorrow morning if somebody can help me out.

    Thanks
    Andrew

Then I would suggest you get a pen and paper before you call them again, if they told you once they should tell you again.

    Good day Andrew,
    Firstly
Are you an installer or end user, sorry but you must have some basic experience before we can proceed,

    Are you sure its a 2316 and not a 236i, 6 or 16 zones,
Why do you require information for defaulting?

Why don't you upgrade to an Eclipse- they are better sorry had to add that one

I am an installer. I did have about 40 or 50 posts before the crash here.

I now have the info, but the panel was locked out.

I put a Solution 16 in there instead.

    Thanks
    Andrew

The eclipse was a rock solid performer............
A pioneer almost. Not the easiest to program from memory.

    Default change battery c & K 236i

Could anyone please advise me how to change the battery of my C & K 236i. If I unplug the alarm system from the power point, will this change all programming? Should I do a *68#. All I want is to change the battery. There is a tamper switch that when the box is open, the alarm goes off. What would be the easiest way of changing battery without changing or erasing codes already in the system. Please send reply also to jobsesber@optusnet.com.au
    thanks

You shouldn't need to unplug it.

Simply change the battery. The programming is in non-volatile memory, otherwise all a Bad Man would need to do is cut the power and wait for the system to run down a battery.

Go for it. Wear hearing protection if the screamer is mounted near the panel (not usually a great idea) and be ready to enter your code to silence it.

Is it not funny when they now supply alarm pamels for the last 30 years without an internal sounder to try and beat someone from ripping the alrm panel of the wall yet over 50% of alarm installations I have sighted have the sounder mounted on or near the contriol panel. Like I say who teaches who and who trained who.

Or the keypad is either built into the control panel (eg Lynx, magellan) or mounted on the main control panel.
