Trams in Collin's st 1930's. For those not familiar with Melbourne, we still run those same trams on some routes in the inner city. My great grandfather was 70 when he was hit and killed after being collected by one in South Melbourne in 1930. Who knows, it might be that one

When I was briefly (4 months) in Melbourne in 1955, I lived at Malvern and used both Train and Tram to go into the City and I remember that the suburbans had First and Second Class, no connection between the carriages and they were made of wood.
Another thing that bemused me was that they used to shut the barrier gate just before the train arrived and you could not enter or leave the station until it was well gone.
Sydney by this time was phasing out the wooden cars and replacing them with the steel ones painted in Tuscan Red which eventually earnt the name of the 'Red Rattlers'.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
A train battles through flood waters at South Yarra, 1907. Today's trains wouldn't have a hope in hell with their electronics.
Sunbury Lunatic Asylum 1916. 2 of my ancestors, brothers, died in there. A third brother shot himself in the head.

Enjoying the pics mate ? I thought you would as you have liked some of my previous posts with older stuff. I am sure you would have also spotted the cars and bikes I have posted in the auto forum. Feel free to post in them if you think you can identify any of the unidentified ones.
Anyone interested seeing any from other countries ? There are some nice ones of New Zealand's major cities.

Thanks mate Obviously I also do and I don't mind posting them up as long as there are at least a few others that also appreciate them. So if you do enjoy having a look, please say so. Its a bit of work from my end, but I don't mind doing it as long as others appreciate the scenery Discussion and comments welcome from all, get involved and enjoy yesteryear. Simpler times and in my opinion, better times.
Those that have a frustrating time fishing in Port Philip bay might find this one interesting. Dromana, 1920's. Can anyone identify the fish ?
