Default downloaded movies wrong aspect ratio on ultraplus 9200HD

    Hi folks

Downloaded a movie onto the box like I often do with no issues, and it turns out to play really compressed (horizontally) on the screen. aspect is 2.4:1 and plays fine on the computer, but is squashed up on the tv/projector/etc from the sat box.

Clearly it can't handle that aspect ratio? I've tried diff format settings etc.

    Any ideas?

Find out the movie file type then search for an aspect ratio changer. It may be able to fix it without any recoding the movie. I have done it with a few movies I downloaded from the web and it worked well....unless of course it is an ultraplus setting....if it is only this movie that causes problems, it needs what I just described

The weird thing with some movies is that they can play fine on the computer with say VLC but have the wrong aspect ratio when played with windows media player or on my WDTV player.

I downloaded the same movie from another site, no idea why but pan scan seemed to show it correctly! odd.

I take it you copied it over via USB? you could always try sending it to the Ultraplus via DLNA from the PC. Anyway not all movie downloads are encoded or flagged correctly. Just download a different release.

Over the network actually, what's DLNA?

So how would I transfer "via dlna" to the ultraplus, exactly folks?

Run something like servio DLNA server on your pc then chooses "servio" as the source on the Ultraplus.

Or in windows mediaplayer you can share it and send it to the device.

Another way, but more complicated, open the file in VLC send the local stream to the i.p address of the Ultraplus and view the stream in Internettv+ using the pc i.p address.

Can't seem to do that in media player, can only "cast to device" which only lists my denon home cinema receiver, which will be audio only.

Just installed serviio, the ultraplus can see the serviio but can't seem to see any of the videos that I have loaded into serviio (that I have successfully copied direct to the ultraplus and played so I know they are OK).

Make sure the receiver is given access by servio, use the default profile for the device
