As i drove down the street today, there was a group of BMW Adventure bike riders, say 6 of them, and every one had a GoPro mounted to top of their helmet.
I can actually start to see the Police point of view.
It looked ridiculous, they were so high above the helmet itself.
Cant say id ever wear one on my helmet...

But for some people, the aspiration to get around looking like a the red Tellytubbie on a Motorcycle, is just too appealing.

If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!

Don't see the issue with it. I wear one on my helmet at all times.
The laws will catch up eventually. Its no different to LED light bars that have only just been made legal.

I recall when attending track days that helmets were checked to have the right sticker to meet ADR's and certain standards were expected.

I also remember looking at my 2 helmets instructions that stated they were not to be altered in any way, included painted, stating that paint may compromise the integrity of the helmet, yet for some reason i see lots of custom air brushed painted helmets everywhere.

Having a solid object of a small surface area attached by any means (even suction cap) to a helmet is looking for trouble, any direct impact on the object 'may" possibly concentrate the high impact load onto a smaller surface area (footprint), by not having cameras, that's one less object with a small footprint to deal with that could punch through the helmets outer wall.

Then there is the danger of a external object that could pose a issue for any pedestrians hit, for example on cars, hood scoops and external gauges on the bonnet had to be of a certain large radius not to cut/hurt pedestrians in a frontal impact, even chrome finish gauge holders were banned due to the reflection possibly blinding the driver.

At race tracks, car drivers helmets must be worn and the roll cage around the drivers head must not have any protruding objects in case it punctures through the helmet.

Logically the camera should be fitted to the bike, and in a place where it cannot hurt anyone on impact by protruding.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, i have not turned gay yet.....

Luuuurve the teletubbies thought, OB!!!! Godz does have a point about impact on helmets being concentrated. My initial thought, too was, why cant they just mount it on the bike? Where the QLD coppers have their cameras mounted could cause nice collarbone damage in a prang. I must admit I've been fortunate as far as falling off bikes is concerned, and only once was it the fault of a tin top. I do tend to ride, though, as if everyone on the road is an absolute idiot, and, so far, I have been right.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

After what happened to Schumacher, why would you ? Better to mount it on the bike.
