return the ddr3 ram, i dont think you'll see any perfomance benefits from it yet unless overclocking heavily
get some nice ddr21066
i have a commando motherboard and i read it will take DDR3 ram so as the ram was the only thing slowing the system down out i trotted and got some 1333fsb RAM and guess what the dimms are different i guess when APC did there reveiw saying the commando board takes DDR3 they were talking DDR3 1066fsb which i again presume is the same DIMM slot as 800fsb so now i have 4g of 1333fsb RAM and am asking on recommendations on new motherboards that i can use. This pc does everything from web browsing to HD movie editing the asus range of boards has served me well but they now have heaps of models to pick from all suggestions will be appreciated

Yes i had the DDR2 800 running at 1066 for ages but now it has errors even after i pulled it back i don't mind paying for a new board as this will keep the system up to date and i will be over clocking the 1333 as far as it can before errors.
and i have the CPU overclocked heaps as well but that is a current CPU
with the current power of cpu's and ram, why overclock?
its just asking for trouble imho.

because when i ask for a pc to do something i don't want to wait.
I just wanted recommendations on good over clocked motherboards prefrably in the asus range.
what do we think of these ASUS MAXIMUS EXTREME
biostar
pity it only supports DDR2
Philthequad = i have always over clocked my PC`s and never had a stability problem after the Days it takes to get it right (the biggest problem is people go too far) and then wonder why their machine will not post. With a little effort you get every cent of value out of your well invested money, provided you buy the right gear for the job. Hence advice from other over clockers/builders to see what they use.
Right now, DDR3 is crap. It has massive latencies, but fast clock speeds. You're better off with some really high quality (Corsair, OCZ) DDR2 and overclock it. Better latencies and potentially similar clock speeds. Oh, and at nearly half the price.
I'm sorry, what was the arguement FOR DDR3?
ok so i got a ASUS P5E3 motherboard and the 4gig of ram and the results after stressing the system were:
2.4gig core2 dueo and 4gig xtream 1333 ram now runs at3.55 gig and ram @ 1666 all stable and f__king fastenough for me heaps quicker than the old board with the DDR2
