Default Changing Modems with Static IP

Please excuse my joob question ... however, if i wanted to replace my existing modem which has a static IP allocated from Optus, with a better off the shelf modem. Does my existing static IP remain the same or do i have to get in touch with Optus and let them know so they can do some IP wizardry their end to keep it the same?

    Thanks.

    Default

Static IP will be assigned by your ISP. So will remain the same
