    Default Windows 8.1 & HyperV

I've been playing this afternoon with HyperV

My present primary system is an AMD FX - 8350 Eight Core @ 4.01Ghz
    32Gb Installed Memory 64Bit OS with 1 x 500Gb SSD and 4 x 4GB SATA's

I also run a standalone Dual Core utilised simply as a VPN downloader

So I build a HyperV terminal on my primary.
Gave it Quad Core / 4Gb RAM / 250GB HDD running Windows 10
Set it up as my VPN downloader with PureVPN as the Service provider

This is just a quick snap shot of my primary and the HyperV running speed test at the same time - (sorry guys just had a look at this photo and it's pretty ordinary, I'll try asd get a cleaner shot.

Is any one else playing with HyperV - what are your thoughts?

(Edit) - Sorry, not much better but gives a small indication

In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

    My 250 kb/sec ADSL2+ will only hyperVentilate............
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

No that's actually the slowest I've seen - but I had Pure set to Auto, usually I force it to the Brunei servers - I've Brunei and the Netherlands are actually the fastest.
I'll run a few tests and see what it comes up with

This is about 'average' and while it seems slow, I'm still downloading full length movie in about 20 mins, always less than 30.

Have you optimized your Windows 10 (Pro ?) settings concerning TCP before you started testing PureVPN's transmission speeds?

For example with a tool like the SG TCP Optimizer

which is freeware and available for Windows 10 too?

No, too be honest I only stuck with Windows 10 for about 10 seconds.
Found it a total waste of space and too much of a control freak.
    I ended up running three identical terminals 1 x XPPRO / 1 x Win7 and 1 x 8.1
and established very quickly that windows 7 offered the best download speeds
30% better than Windows 10 and perhaps 10% better than Win 8.1.

Now I'm really confused: what has the computer's Windows OS edition / version (and also type of CPU, amount of RAM, etc) to do with "Download Speed"?

Always thought downstream / upstream line speed is dependent on many factors, such as firewall software, third party security applications, time of day, congestion on the path at the time, your ISP's backbone/connectivity, your allocated bandwidth, the particular node you're on, the state of the Internet at the time, latency, moon phase, etc. AFAIK also most 802.11n Wi-Fi certified devices will slow down downstream line speed to 54 Mbps if you use WEP or WPA/TKIP security.

Must admit I've only a little bit knowledge of "Networking".

(Newbie here) - What exactly do you mean by a "VPN downloader" ? Are you using it for anonymous torrenting and stuff? I'm actually interested in this kind of setup myself.
