I'd have considered Geothermal to be the least invasive and, likely to be the most environmentally friendly.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
I don't think there talking Geothermal power generation lsemmens, it's a different principal in the OP's link.
The're talking about Geo Hydraulic power storage to replace large scale battery storage for renewable & other energy sources, the source of the power is not specific.
Cheers, Tiny
"You can lead a person to knowledge, but you can't make them think? If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
The information is out there; you just have to let it in."
I am aware of the OP my point was as above, I'd have thought it a better option than Geo Hydraulic as you must expend energy to produce it. With Geothermal, the energy expenditure would be minimal.

This is a 21 st Century version of how they stored Coal Gas a 150 years ago.
First you extracted the gas from the coal and stored it in a sizable container that floated on a water bed, rising as the volume increased.
Then the weight of the container would push the Gas into the pipes when required as a suitable pressure.
This is the same principle used on the Snowy Mountain's Hydro electric scheme where water is collected after passing through turbines and pumped back at night to a holding dam to be reused the next day.
Geothermal has its limits too it seems as they found out in New Zealand years ago when too many drilled into the strata to use the steam being generated from thermal activity.
From later reports it seems some of the figures used to prove that the resource were being drained by too much usage were inflated and some of the losses blamed were in fact due to changes naturally occurring.

I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
New free web doco out today and a few segments relate to power , funded by a billionaire
I agree OB, I have not done much research in that vein.
