Default XP service Pack 2 problems

Hi guys I'm wondering if anyone can give some advice or any fixes,

I've been trying to load XP service pack 2 without any luck, the disk I'm loading it from is out of one of the pc magazines,

"the product key used to install MS windows may not be valid"

anyway around this, thanks in advance

Is your copy of Windows a genuine one, and has it been validated online with Microsoft?

Yeah, you will find the XP SP2 will be OK, just that when Windoze goes to update itself, it will be checking with the "Genuine Notification Advantage Tool" to see if your copy is in fact a legit one.

I know there are some copies of it floating around that don't require registering - how it's been done I am not quite sure.
