Default Father and Son on the Run for 8 years.

This pair seem to have led Police a merry dance inland between the Victorian Border and the Queensland interior according to the article.
Multiple robberies, assaults, arson and now a shoot out with Police in the Wagga Wagga area is their latest escapade.

Wow... Bonnie and Clyde types with a vindictive streak.

When they eventually get caught they can probably expect a lengthly suspended sentence. I have NO faith in the courts.

I keep seeing two guys dressed in 30s suits and carrying Thompsons.....the only thing missing on all the stolen cars are sideboards, runners or whatever those steps are called.

Its ridiculous that these guys havent been arrested.

With current laws in Victoria, police just about have to ask you if you want to be arrested and if the time doesnt suit you, you just drive off.

This "softly softly" approach is getting ridiculous. Sooner or later, people like this will murder some innocent people after police dont arrest them because they are not allowed to chase them.

It's got me beat how they can get around the place without not being seen and caught.

ABC24 interview today had the two confirmed sighted in Sale and then Bairnsdale one day, then confirmed sighting at a drive off at a Gundagai servo on the Hume highway.

Surely in rural and remote areas, locals will see and take notice of strange vehicles driving around or parked in bushland.

Victoria police were sitting behind them (close enough for a number plate ID) the other night, they twigged it was police and took off. Due to the "no pursuit" policy, they didnt attempt to chase them and they disappeared.

Anyone know if NSW has this same policy ?

I think only QLD and VIC have a no pursuit policy. NSW need approval to chase from memory

I find it rather absurd that everybody seems to know where these two are, or have been, especially the media, but the police don't have a clue.

In todays sun newspaper 50/50 section someone wrote that with the "no pursuit" policy why do they spend extra money on the so called highway pursuit cars they could save money and use Kias ?

As Leroy and others would know, there are a lot of four wheel back tracks thru the divide at the back of Bairnsdale, people with two heads playing dueling banjos, gees the power only went thru there a few years ago and any Taswegian who is living in Victoria who is home sick only needs to go there to feel at home. Unless you are on the tracks your self you would never see them

There was a hint of nervousness when we drove into NSW and back out last week in my ute.

Father and son, both unshaven, both looking like criminals.

Not according to the Video of the Son in that Servo where he was clean shaven and looked basically tidy, better than I have seen some including myself.

No one looks twice at that Toyota their driving because thats all you see outside most rural town areas, covered in mud, dust, rust and half filled with tools of some sort.

Knowing the area is one thing but they know how to camp and cover their tracks in the Bush as well so until they make a mistake or somebody stumbles over them, its going to be hard to find them.

Unlike that fellow eventually caught in the New England area, he was really only caught because he was on his own, had no transport and was an Aborigine.
Because they are Father and Son, they can watch each others backs, sleeping in shifts and 'Two Heads' are better than one to talk over strategy to avoid being caught.

What could be their downfall is to be encircled in a given area and with enough manpower to do a 'Scorched Area Ground search' going metre by metre until they are found.

The fact these two do apparently have a decent rifle with an unknown amount of ammunition and have already shot at Police, I too would be unwilling to order a pursuit of them except by a SWAT team if they were seen on the road.

Maybe the coppers should start a game of "Where's Wally", instead "Where's Gino". They might have more chance of finding him.

They're lucky it didn't happen 20 years ago in Vic. The coppers would have had them 'tagged and bagged' within the first 24 hours - they were the days!

Next we'll be hearing police appealing for them to hand themselves in.

I thought in a back handed way that was being done now with all these high ranking 'Uniforms' appearing on TV reports with a shot or 2 of a SWAT team wandering around in the background.

And showing both that CCTV of the Son in the Servo and the Servo attendant spotting them getting fuel before driving off all goes to show that 'We can see you and we're not far behind'.

If I was working at a place where their thought to be and CCTV was in use, you can bet I would be keeping a watch on whose coming or going until their caught because no one knows how they will react if they are disturbed robbing a place for supplies they thought was empty or to the extreme of robbing a place at gunpoint.
